PICKER-STRAP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 21, 1911.
Application filed February 21, 1910. Serial No. 545,195.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NAPOLEON LEMAIRE, of Taunton, in the county of Bristol and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Picker-Strap for Looms, of which the following is a specification.
The objects of my invention are (1) the increased facility of attaching and detaching the cushion described in my patent of Apr. 24, 1900, #648,150, (2) lessening the liability of said cushion being displaced by the loosening of a bolt at its lower end, (3) eliminating all possibility of the wrinkling of said cushion, (4) increased stability of the cushion holder, and (5) increased ease and elasticity of operation.
My invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement-of parts, as set forth in the following description, reference being had to the drawings appended hereto, in which similar characters refer to corresponding parts in each figure.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improvement, parts being removed, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged end elevation, parts being removed.
A and A represent two strips or wires, of any suitable material, provided at one end with suitable connections for joining them to the picker shaft of a loom. (Not shown.) Between the other ends of A and A is inserted a cushion holder, in which B represents a block of wood, aluminum, or any other suitable material, C a bolt provided with a large flat head D and a nut E which is inserted in holes in said strips and block and is employed to clamp said strips upon said block.
F is a flat plate of metal, having inwardly extending lugs G which extend horizontally across the inner face of plate F and fit snugly upon the upper and lower edges of strip A The object of these lugs is to prevent any swinging motion of plate F upon bolt C as an axis.
Extending horizontally inward from the bottom of plate F is a pin H, around which is looped a strip of leather I, the loose ends being carried up between the block B and the picker stick J and attached to stick J by a fastener K. In strips A and A are 1011- gitudinal slots L, in which bolt C may slide horizontally, for adjusting the position of cushion-holder.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a picker-strap, the combination of strips comprising a frame, having longitudinal slots therein, a cushion holder slidably mounted thereon, comprising a block, a bolt attaching the block to the strips, a plate having lugs fitting the edges of said strips, and a pin extending transversely from the bot-tom of said plate and flexible connecting strips between the pin and the picker stick.
2. In a picker-strap, the combination of strips comprising a frame, a block, a bolt and nut attaching the block to the strips, a plate having lugs thereon embracing said strips, a pin extending transversely from the plate, a picker stick and a strip of material looped around said pin and passing between said block and said picked stick.
