SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 329,971, dated November 10,1885.
Application filed February 19, 1853. Serial No. 85,494. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LAFAYETTE TAFI, of Douglass, in the county of \Vorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Picker-Sticks for Looms, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. forming a part of this specification, in explaining its nature.
This invention relates to picker-sticks for j looms; and it consists in a re-enforced and strengthened picker-stick, as hereinafter del scribed and claimed. It will be readily understood from the drawings and description.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective 3 view of my improved picker-stick. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 3 is a back view thereof.
Like letters denote like parts in each figure.
A is a wood picker-stick of substantially the same shape as those now in use.
B B BB are rawhide bands riveted at the back side of the picker-stick, as shown in Fig. 3, or otherwise suitably fastened and shrunk upon the wood. One of these bands, B, is at the butt, and is perforated to receive the pivot on which the stick moves, and thus bushes and protects the fulcrum-point.
B is a tip-band, and B B are intermediate bands between the butt and tip. Two of these intermediate bands will usually be sufficient;
, front plate and one at the other, thus strengthening the stick at the point where it is most likely to split.
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- 1. The combination of the picker-stick A with the front plate, 0, and rawhide bands B B at each end of said front plate, shrunk on said picker-stick A adjacent to the ends of said plate, substantially as described.
2. The picker-stick A, provided with the rawhide bands B B B B shrunk onto the same, and the front plate, 0, substantially as described.
