Application filed July 6, 1910.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Pat'clitedFeb. 14, 19211.
serial No. 570,624.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JonN Lezama, a citizen ot' the United States, residing at. San Anselmo, in the county ot Marin and State of California, have invented new and nse'ful lmproveinents in Hinges, ot which the 'tollowing is a specitication.
rlhis invention relates to hinges.
The object otthe invention is the provision of a leali hinge having means tor securing the device to a door or other closure so that said securing means will not be exposed from the outside.
Further objects oit' the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accomlianying drawing which forms a part ot' this appli ri tion, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view ot' the hinge secured to a door and having Aits pintle leaves separated. Fig. Q is a similar view with the pintle leaves connected. Fig. 2:3 is a vertical sectional View on the line i--I' o't' Fig. Q. Fig. +L is a horizontal sectional view through Fig. 2.
'For conventional illustration a wall or partition l is shown and a door 2. The hinge is shown as con'lprising the separate leaves 3 and t each comprising the pintle sections 5 and the securing section which are hinged together' by the pintle 7. sections opposite to their connection with the section are provided with pintle eyes 8 and the sections (3 are provided with a plurality ot' apertures 9 and a central slot l0.
In the application ot' the device, the sections (5 are secured to the wall and door in the manner shown in Fig. it by the screws ll and the sections 5 folded over thereon and a pintle l2 secured therein in any suitable manner as by upsetting the head.
In order to prevent the relative movement of the sections 5 and G when secured to the The door, a bolt 13 is pivoted between ears 14: on each section and is passed through the slots l() and through suitable openingsrl fornied in the door. Centrally aperturcd and threaded screws 1(3 extending through or partially through the door and wall engage the bolts .13 and hohl the sections together so that the outer sections cover the securing screws 11.
'.l`o entirely conceal the securing parts upon the outside ot the door, the sections 5 are provided with [langes 1T at their top and bottom edges which when the hinge is properly mounted engage the door and wall and overlap the top and bottom edges oli the scetions t as shown in Fig. 25.
llaving thus described the invention, what is claimed is- 1. A hinge comprising a` pair ot sections, each section composed ot separate parts hinged together, means to secure one o't the parts ot each section to a support, means to connect the remaining parts ot said sections together whereby they will overlic the seenred parts, and means to prevent relative movement between the connected and secured parts ot said sections.
2. A hinge comprising a pair of sections, each section comprising separate leaves hinged together. lneans ior securing one of the leavesI ot' each section to a supportnneans hinging together the remainiiig leaves of each section' whereby the hinged leaves overlie the secured leaves, means 'tor preventing relative movement between the secured and hinged leaves, and means carried by the hinged laves ol the sections for concealing the secured leaves.
l'n testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence oit two witnesses.
JOHN LEZZINE.
