`UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS 1VL GRANT, OF NAPGLEON, OHIO.
MEAT-CASE.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS M. GRANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Napoleon, in the county of Henry and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Meat-Case, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in meat-cases in which a revolving post with arms and cutting board operate within a circular screened case; and the objects of my improvement are, first, to provide a revolving hook-rack on which to hang meat; second to provide a case that will at once exclude flies and afford ample ventilation to its contents; and, third, to afford facilities for taking out and slicing up the meat. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a front elevation of the completed case, Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same and Fig. 3 is a cross or plan section.
Similar letters refer to similar parts in all the several views.
The bottom disk A, with annular reinforcing rib b, having casters o o, the top disk D, with reinforcing rib e, the separating struts f f, the wire cloth covering G having doors h L, constitute the ease proper, in which a post I, .with arms J J. having hooks lo 7c, and shelf L, is held upright in sockets fm, m, secured to disks D A, can be revolved so as to bring any of the arms J J next to the doors z. h. The shelf L is secured to bottom or lower arm.
Speciicaton of Letters Patent.
Application led June 19, 1909.
Patented Dec. 13, 1910.
Serial No. 503,254.
The lower door L I prefer to hang with hinges while the upper door It may be fastened to the arms J J in such a manner as to close the opening and be opened by revolving the rack.
On one of the middle arms J I secure a slide bolt n, at its outer end and make a hole in the inner face of each strut f, within reach of the door it and by sliding the bolt into the slot the rack is thus held in any desired position during the operation of meat cutting.
I am aware that prior to my invention meat cases have been made with rack within a screened case. I therefore do not claim such a combination broadly; but
I claim- A device of the character described, comprising a casing, including strut-members, a central revolving shaft arranged in said casing and having radial arms projecting therefrom, one of said arms having a fastening at its outer end, said strut-members each having a slot therein engaged by said fastening, and a shelf carried by the lowermost arms, said casing being provided with a. lower door, also with an upper door forming a segment thereof and carried by arms of said shaft for operating the same.
FRANCIS M. GRANT.
