Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J osnrrr O. JENKINs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lititz, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clinical-Thermometer Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a clinical thermometer holder of that class used by physicians and adapted to be carried in the pocket.

The objects of the invention are to provide a device of this class in which are embodied two tubular thermometer cases secured together side by side, either by some suitable binding means, or integral as herewith shown, with the open ends of said tubular cases extending in opposite directions, and each of said open ends projecting beyond the bottom of the other tubular case for the purpose of facilitating the removal of the caps from said cases.

Another object of the invention is to provide the open ends of said tubular cases with a cap screw-threaded thereto and having distinguishing marks thereon to indicate the character of the thermometer contained in the case, such as Sub lingual on one cap and Rectal on the other cap, so that the two thermometers may at all times be kept apart. Still another object of the invention being to attach the upperend of each thermometer to its respective cap so that it may be readily extracted from the case by the removal of the cap, and it will further prevent any danger of the thermometers becoming mixed.

With these and other objects in view my invention consists in certain construction and combination of parts as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed in the following specification and fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application, and in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views; but it is fully understood that while I have here described my invention as herewith shown, that I do not confine myself to the exact design as shown, as slight changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings :Figure 1, is a vertical elevation of the combined case. Fig. 2, is a vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 4:, is a top plan view of the case. Fig. 5, is a bottom plan view of the case. Fig. 3, is a cross sectional view of Fig. 1, taken on the line 3--3.

Referring to the drawings, the device comprises the tubular cases 1, and 2, placed parallel to each other and joined together by the integral wall 3. The open end 4, of the case 1, extending beyond the bottom of the case 2; and the open end 5, of the case 2, eX- tending beyond the bottom of the case 1. The open end ii, of the case 1, is provided with a cap 6, upon the end of which is marked Sub lingual; and the lower end of said cap 6, is formed with an orifice 7 within which is secured by wax or other suitable material the upper end of the thermometer 13. The lower or open end 5, of the case 2, is provided with a similar cap 8, marked fItectal and provided with an orifice 9, within which is secured the upper end of the thermometer 10.

The bottoms of each case are provided with a drain hole 11, and the device may have attached thereto a safety chain 12, for securing to the clothing.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A clinical thermometer case comprising two parallel thermometer receptacles secured together side by side, having their open ends extending in opposite directions and with the open end of each receptacle projecting beyond the end of the other receptacle, and each of said receptacles provided with a cap, marked to indicate the class of thermometer therein contained.

2. A clinical thermometer case, divided into two parallel compartments, open at op posite ends, the open end of each compartment extending beyond the bottom of the other compartment, a cap for closing the open end of each compartment, and each cap marked to designate the thermometer contained in said compartment.
