Description

A. W. ANDREWS.
I'LUE STOPPER.
APPILIOATION FILED NOV. 27, 1909.
Patented Feb. 7, 1911.
ALFRED W. ANDREWS, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, ASSIG-NOB- TO ANDREWS WIRE & IRON WORKS, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
FLUE-STOPPER.
Application filed November 27, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED IV. ANDREWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flue-Stoppers, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a flue stopper having a bail capable of folding against the face of the stopper in order to be closely packed for shipment.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face representation of the flue stopper in which the bail is extended. Fig. 2 is a section on dotted line b-Z) Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section on dotted line aa Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a face representation of the flue stopper, in which the bail is folded;
The face plate 1 of the flue stopper is of the usual form and to its inner face is secured a plate 2 having upturned ends 8, and each provided with a notch 4:. The plate 2 is formed with a lengthwise cavity 5 in its face, next to the face plate. A bail has a section 6 located in the cavity 5, and has right angle elbow sections 7 and outwardly bowed free end portions, forming flue wall engaging arms 8. The right angle elbow sections 7 are adapted to enter the notches 4 in the upturned ends 3 of the plate 2 as shown at Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 7, 1911.
Serial No. 530,255.
Figs. 1 and 2, and may be disengaged therefrom and the bail turned against the face plate as shown at Fig. 4.
When the bail is placed in a fine, the free ends of the bail will be pressed toward each other, thereby increasing the holding action of the bail in connection with the plate 2.
By turning the bail against the face plate, the flue stopper as a whole will occupy little more space than the thickness of the face plate so that they may be closely packed for shipment and storage.
I claim as my invention.
A flue stopper comprising a face plate, another plate secured to the rear side thereof and having its terminal portions outturned and provided with notches, and a holding bail having its central portion journaled be tween the plates, said bail having outstanding elbow portions that engage in the notches, the terminal portions of the bail beyond the elbow portions being bowed out-.
wardly to provide flue wall engaging arms. In testimony whereof I have hereunto setmy hand in presence of two subscrlbing wltnesses.
ALFRED W. ANDREIVS. Witnesses:
