UNlTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH M. WHITE, OIE MACKAY, IDAHO.
WATCH-PROTECTION COVER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OSEPI-I M. WHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mackay, in the county of Custer and State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Watch-Protection Covers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in watch protectors, the object being to provide a device of this character which will eifectually protect a watch and which may be conveniently attached and removed.
lVith these and other objects in view, the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter more. fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that the changes in the specific structure shown and described, may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of the invention In the drawings: Figure 1 is a view of the device arranged in position on a watch, Fig. 2 a view of the device removed, Fig. 3 a view showing the cap adapted to embrace the bow and stem of the watch, Fig. 4 a view showing the manner of attaching said cap, and, Fig. 5 a cross sectional view of the protector.
In the drawings: 10 designates a member formed of soft rubber which is provided with a rear wall 11 and an edge portion 12 formed integral with said rear wall, and a front wall 13 which is provided with a centrally arranged opening 14:. The edge portion 12 is provided with an opening 15 through which the stem of the watch is inserted when the device is attached.
In placing the device on the watch the stem is inserted through the opening 15, and the edge portion 11 allowed to snugly em- Speeification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 25, 1910.
Patented Jan. 1'7, 1911.
Serial No. 578,968.
brace the edge portion of the watch, the dial of the watch being viewed through the aperture 1 1.
The cap 16 is formed of soft rubber and is secured to the stem of the watch by a strap 17, said. cap loosely engaging the stem in order that the watch may be wound. The strap 1'? is secured at the point 18, to the cap, the end portion of said strap being provided with a spring fastening device in order to properly secure the cap to the stem.
The device is made somewhat smaller than the watch case it is adapted to inclose, the rubber being of such a thickness as to permit the same to be stretched over the watch case.
It will be seen from the foregoing that a device of this character will form an eflective protecting device for watches, the same being particularly adapted to be used in places where the watch is normally subject to electrical currents, the rubber casing acting as an effective insulator. Attention is also called to the fact that all of the seams and joints of the watch are covered, thus positively excluding dust and other foreign matter from the watch case.
What is claimed is:
A device of the class described, co1nprising, a flexible casing adapted to embrace a watch, said casing being formed with an aperture in one of its faces, and an aperture in its periphery, a flexible cap adapted to loosely embrace the stem and bow of said watch, a strap secured to said cap, said strap being adapted to secure the cap to the watch stem.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH M. WHITE.
