ROBERT B. LAWRENCE, JR., OF HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY.
PIPE-SCRAIPER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 10, 19.11.
Application filed October 28, 1910. Serial No. 589,647.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT B. LAWRENCE, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful article called a Pipe-Scraper.
The object of my invention is to provide a device for cleaning the interior of a pipe bowl, and comprises a scraper of two blades shaped to fit within the bowl and secured to an end plate which is provided with linger holds. The device is also provided with a cover or case to receive it when not in use.
Referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 1 shows the device in a pipe bowl. Fig. 2 is an end view. Figs. 3, at, and 5 are views of details and Fig. 6 is a view of the case or cover for the cleaner.
The cleaner, as shown comprises two blades a and Z), each shaped to substantially fit the interior of a pipe bowl; said blades having rounded ends and a square base, the blade a being slotted with a kerf E extending from the base half way to its point and the blade 6 having its kerf extending from its point half way to its base, so that when assembled the two blades fit together in planes at right angles to each other, the slot or kert of one blade receiving the uncut portion of the other blade. Each blade has formed at its base the projections 0 c which are riveted into the openings D in the end plate 13. This end plate is substantially circular and has at opposite points on its circumference the extending lugs B which are bent at right angles to the plate, as shown in Fig. 1, to form finger holds.
hen not in use the cleaner is carried in a metal shell S.
Having thus described my invention, I claim.:-
A pipe cleaner comprising two blades each slotted to receive the other and secured in planes at right angles to each other, an end plate to which the bases of said blades are secured, said plate being provided with oppositely extending finger holds, and a shell casing.
