SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 693,284, dated February 11, 190.?.
Application led July 15, 1901. Serial No. 68,349. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES R. LEMON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Scio, in the county of Harrison and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corn Holders, of
vwhich the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to vcertain new and useful improvements in corn-holders, and is more particularly employed as a holder for roasting-ears.
The invention has for its object the provision of novel means whereby a roastingear maybe securely held in position While eating the corn; furthermore, to provide means that will allow the easy withdrawal of the device from the cob when desired.V
A still further object of my invention is to construct a device of the above described class that will be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, comparatively inexpensive to manufacture, and highly efficient in its use.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in thenovelcombination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forminga part of this speciiicatiomand wherein vlike numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which- -v Figure lisa side elevation of a roasting-ear having myiinproved holder attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a partial vertical sectional View of one of the holders, taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 3 looking in the direction of the arrow.
Fig. 4 is a side Fig. 3 is a front elevation.
Fig. 5 is a elevation of the fork and sleeve.
fork carrying a rounded shank and a square end 3, terminating in a point 4, this square end 3 being providedwith a pin 5.
The reference-numeral 6 kindicatesa sleeve having a slot 7 formed therein for thereception of the pin 5.
The reference-numeral 8 indicates a cylindrical casing slidingly secured upon the inserted in the ends of the cob, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. When it is desired to remove the same, the sleeve 6 is operated inwardly toward the cob, which will disengage the point therefrom, thereby removing the same.
The many advantages obtained by the use of my improved device will be readily appar ent from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully described inyinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let'- ters Patent, is
In a corn-holder, the combination of a casing, ribs carried by said casing, a ring carried by said ribs, a fork carrying said casing, a sleeve in which said fork is slidingly secured, and means to limit the movement of said fork vwithin said sleeve, all parts being arranged and operating substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afx my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES R. LEMON.
