The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and. making'prt of the same.
To all lwhom itonay'coiwmu `Be it known that we, S. O. FRINK and L. D. HAR- LAN,of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, havemade new and useful Improvements in an Apparatus for,l Treating Diseases by Vacuum; and wedo hereby declare thev following to be afull and exact description of said improvement, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, that forma part of these specifications.
. r,lhe object of our invention is to secure the head more lirmly in the hood connected with a depurator, and to secure the hinged parts more readily and securely; and consists in combining an adjustable head- 'rest with the hood, and also in new and improved fastening-devices.
Figure l represents shield A, with a flange, F, to fasten it upon the cover K, of the receiver o'r box G. The shield is made open in front suicient tolet the Y tace of the patient come through, and has a ange `turned back, forming a groove,'so asto receive the iiexible-rubber cape or face-picce B, over which is placed a iexible oord or band, O, to hold it in its place in the groove, and, atthe same time, make it perfectly air-tight, and easily taken ofi` and put on.

The receiver or box is constructed with 'a door on the back side, and the cover K, on which the shield A is `fastened, is made to tip forward, so that the patient can enter it from the floor and sit down with ease.

through the face-piece'B, as shown in iig. 1,`and than by clamping the cover K down, by means of the hocheocentrics L L L, the apparatus is made perfectly air- `tighlathus producing a-oomplete apparatus for medical treatment of diseases by vacuum, easily adj usted, and, at the same time, the patient can be ltaken out in a few seconds;

What we claim, and `desire to secure by-Letters Patent of the United States, is-' 1.v The shield and adjustable head-rest, in combination with the elastic hood, arranged as described, substantially as and'for the purposes set forth.
2. Securing the hinged covers of thebox G, arranged wit-h folding lid, as described, by means of the ho'ok-ecccntrios, arranged as and for the purposes set forth.
