To all whom it may concern.' I
Be it known that I. HENRY C. lVA'r'rs, a citizen of the Unite .tates, residing at Fayetteville, in the county of Lincoln and State of Tennessee, have invented a newnnd useful Bill and Letter File; and l do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to a letter and bill tile and has for its objectto provide a device of this character consisting of a base, two uprights and alocking member on` the end ot each upright, :t'or preventing letters and bills from becomingl accidentally displaced.
`With these and other objects in view, .the invention consists i-n the novel. construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and shown and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:-Figure l. is a perspective view ot a bill and letter tile constructed 3, which receive the annular disks or plates- 4. from which the posts 5 upwardly project.

That is claimed is l. A bill or letter tile comprising a hase having' annular recesses adjacent one end withoutmutilating thereof, vertically arranged posts project-` ino` upwardly from the hase and provided with annular disks or platesreceived in said annular recesses, screws penetrating` the annular disks or plates to hold .the posts in their lixed positions, said posts being, cylindrical in form and having` their upper portions provided with vertically arranged recesses. projections arranged vertically in Ysaid recesses, members 'fulcrumed to thefupper ends o;t` said ,projections adapted to be held in horizontal or vertical positions and provided with restricted portions to be received hy said recesses when the members are in vertical positions, said restricted portions'having their outer faces convexed to conform approximately with the cylindrical contours of the posts, as and for the purpose specified.

A file of the class described, comprising" vertically disposed posts. a recess formed in the upper end of said posts. locking members carried by said posts and having means for holding the same in a horizontal or vertical position, said locking members having a reduced portion adapted to be received into said recesses5 when the lockingA members are in a vertical position.
