i To all whom` fit may concern:

Lettere Patent No. 97,605, dated December` 7, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING CEICKENLCOOR The Schedule referred to these Letters Patent and making p'irt of the` san-1a.
Be it known that I, GEORGE EDWARD OLEETCN, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven, and
`State of Gonnecticut, have invented a new Improvenient in Folding OhickenCoop; and I do herebyjde-` a clare the following, when taken in connection with'the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to `be a full, clear, and exact descrip-` tionof the same, and `whichsaid drawings constitute part of this specilication, and represent, in-` Figurel, a perspective view of the coop as set up; Figure 2, the top and perch detached; l `FLgure 3a transverse section; and in` Figure 4, a top view, with he cover or topremoved.
t Thisfinvention relates to `an improvement inpthe p construction of coope, such as are commonly used for `the exhibitionand transportation of fowls; the object of my invention beingto construct the coop, so
` that when not innse, it can be folded into small compass; and l p The invention consist-s in the arrangement ofthe bott-om, so as to he folded inward, and with the two ends hinged to their respective sides, divided in the centre, and hinged at: that point, so that both ends double inward, and the topvconstructed so as to set on to thecoop when extended, and hold it in that po sition, andprovided with a perch, plvoted 4to the top, so that the perch may be turned up out of the way,
when not in use, or'in folding the coop.
'lhe two sides consist of a frame-work, formed o1 two posts A A and `ties B B, the lower tie upon one `sid'elplaced` a little higher than the other, so thata door, 0may `behnged thereto,
cleaning out the coop; i
The two ends, are formed `each in two parts, D, i
for the purpose of each part hinged to the posts, so as to fold inward,
and the two parts hingedltogether at the centre, as seen in fig. 1, so that in folding, they turn inward,
secured, when not required for use.
drawing the two sides together, the sides lying folded between, as seen'in iig.4. l
Thebottom' is also formed in two parts, as seen in `fig. 3, and each part hinged at its outer edge, so as to fold up against its own side, as denoted in broken lines', iig. 3, and the bottom is iitted, so that vwhen turned down, it holds the ends extended, and prevents their folding; but when the bottom is turned up, the
parts may he folded, as seen in fig. 4.
The top consists of the framework of the two sides EF, `so as to lie'betwee'n the sides, and connectedby Cross-ties G G,`which rest against the posts and. on the upper ties B, so that when the coop is opened,
.and the top placed thereon, the whole is a firm structure. V
To the top, a perch, H, is hung, pivted at a, so as to swing up, as denoted in broken lines, lig. 3and be `To fold the coop, remove the top, turn np the two parts ofthe bottom, which frees the two ends. Then turn the twot ends inward, which draws the two sides together, as in iig. 4. Then the top is laid thereon, the perchfolding down, the whole being in a compact form.
' .One of the chief advantages of this construction Yconsistsin the fact that no bolts or ,small detachable y parts are required, the whole being practically in two
