IMPROVED BED-SPRING.
Theschedule referred to :in these Letters PatentA and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern;
` Carolina, have invented a new and useful Irriprovement in Bed-Springs; and I do herchy'decl'are that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the artto make and use the same, reference being had to the' accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which the figure is a side or edge view of my in1 proved bed-spring. Y
My invention has for its object to furnish a simple, convenient, and elastic bed-spring; and
It consists in the spring constructed in the manner hereinafter more fully described.
A is the ordinary slat or spring, upon which the mattress is placed.
To the ends of the slat A are securely attached the upper ends of two pins, or standards, B, which pass down through holes in the ends of the spring O, and
the lower ends of which rest in sockets formed in the upper vside of the ends of the springs I).
The middle part of the spring D is securely attached tothe middle part ofthe spring O, as shown in the igure. The ends ofthe slat C are designed to rest upon the cleats or ledges attached to the lower parts of the inner sides of the side-rails of Ithe bed-` stead in the ordinary manner.
E are rubber or other suitable cushions, attached to the upper sides of the ends of the spring C, to receive the endsot"4 the "siat A, and prevent noise wheuthe spring is fully depressed.
The pins or standards B may be kept from springing ont of the spring C by pins or keys passed through the lower parts of said standards B, below the spring O, as shown in the figure. l
By this construction, the elasticity of the three slats or springs, A, C, and D, is utilized, which enables a light, convenient, and very elastic bed-spring to be produced. v
The lower springs may be made of wood or steel, as may be desired or convenient.

An improved bed-spring, formed by the vcombination of the three springs or slats, A O D, and pins or standards B with each other, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
