SHIELD FOR CORSET STEELS AND BONES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 18, 1910.
Application filed March 31, 1909. Serial No. 486,905.
T 0 all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, GRACE L. BARB, of Bay Ridge, in the county of Kings and in the State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Shields for Corset Steels and Bones, and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to a shield for covering the end of a corset steel.
The object of my invention has been to provide such a shield as will prevent the bones and steels of a corset from wearing through the corset, and which will prevent their injuring a corset cover; and to such ends my invention consists of the corset shield hereinafter specified.
Figure 1 is an elevation of a corset having a protector embodying my invention applied thereto; Fig. 2 is an enlarged crosssection through a portion of the corset, the protector and a steel; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the protector shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
My shield consists preferably of a piece of metal A, or other stifi material, which is dished to fit over the end of a corset steel or bone B, the shield being sewed to the outer surface of the corset C, in position so that the end of the steel or bone shall be under the said dished portion of the shield.
The shield may be fastened to the corset in any desired manner.
As the preferred embodiment of my in vention, I have illustrated the shield as provided with holes a, a a and a by which it can be sewed to the corset. The hole a is not used where the shield is placed over a broad steel, but is used where it is placed over two narrow ones.
I claim:
A shield for corset stifi'enings, consisting of a plate having a substantially flat outer edge, and having a dome-shaped projection inclosed by said fiat outer edge, said flat outer edge completely surrounding said dome, and having perforations whereby it may be sewed to a corset.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
GRACE L. BARD.
