Smau", n citizen of the United States of America, residing ut littsbur in the county of Allegheny uml State o Pennsylvania, have in vcntcd certain new and useful Ini roveincnts in Iiin end Plate Lifters, of which the following is ii specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

'lhis inventio'n relates to plnte und pau liftehi and has for its object to-provide a device of such clam in a manner ari hereinafter s'ct forth which is particularly adapted for lifting hot plates or receptacles provided with ii rim or for conveniently moving plates or receptacl from one 'point to uiiother.

Further objects of the invention are to provide n lifting device for the purpose set forth which is simple in its construction and arrangement, stron durable, etlicieiit in its use, convaniently a justed or itioncd with '.mpcct to the artl'cle to be li ted, und inexpensi'vc'to manufacture.

.i lifting device in accordance with this invention comprises an upper member rclerred to nerally by the reference characte!
