'lhis inventio'n relates to plnte und pau liftehi and has for its object to-provide a device of such clam in a manner ari hereinafter s'ct forth which is particularly adapted for lifting hot plates or receptacles provided with ii rim or for conveniently moving plates or receptacl from one 'point to uiiother.
Further objects of the invention are to provide n lifting device for the purpose set forth which is simple in its construction and arrangement, stron durable, etlicieiit in its use, convaniently a justed or itioncd with '.mpcct to the artl'cle to be li ted, und inexpensi'vc'to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consista of the novel conment of pertsus hereinafter more speci cally described snd illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is `shown the prefer embodiment of the invention, but it is to be iinilcrf-tmul thut changes, vnriiitioiis und unnliiiciitioi'is cnn bo resorted to which como within the scope of the clnini hereunto iippended.
In describing the invention in detail, reference is had to the sccompsnyin drawings wherein like reference characters anote con responding parte throughout the several views in which:
IFigure l is a sido elevation of n receptacle showing the udnptiition therewith of ii lifting device in uccordiince with this invention. liig. 2 is ii side clcvntioii of a pie pluto showing the uiluptiit'iou therewith 0f a lifting dcvicc in accordance with this invention, unil, Fig. :l is u perspective i'icw of ii lifting dcvice.
Referring to Fig. 1 of the druwin'm, 4 iiidicntes the indy-portion of n receptiicio having u laterally-extending vini ti ut the top thi-roof und referring to Fig. 2 of the drnwings. 1' denotes the bodyqxirtiou' of u pie pinto hnvng thc top thereof foi'iucd with n lutcrullycxtcnililig rim 7.
.i lifting device in accordance with this invention comprises an upper member rclerred to nerally by the reference characte! A an a lower member referred to erall by the reference character B. g[lie mem rs A, B are pivotally--eonnected togather and each is formed from a s' le piece of wire of the necessary rigidity. e member A consists of a handle rtion which dually decreasea in width rom its outer o its i ner end and is formed of s. pair of arms 9 connected together at the outer end of the handle portion by a transversely-extendi pert 10. The member 8 et its inner terminus is rounded as at l1 and mer in a right-'angularly dis arm 12 hic terminates in a vertice y-extending .arm 18, the latter mer ng into a longitu-4 dinally-extending mem r 14 which teriiiinatea in a vertically-disposed abutment 15 having a hook-shaped lower end l0. The member 0 et its inner terminus is rounded as. at l? and lmei' in a rght-iinguhirlydisposed arm 18 w ich terminates in ufvertieally-extcnding arm l0. the lsttermergii into a longitudinally-extending member which terminates `in a vertically-dimmed abutment 21 havin a hook-sha d ower end 22. The noun portion 1 is opiositely1 disposed with respect to the roun ed portion 1 the arm 12 extends in an opposite direction with respect to the erin 18, the iimi 1H is errnnged in rallelisin withre iipcct to the ineuibcr l the iiiciiibcr 14 iii arranged in pariillcliaui with respect to tho member 20 and the abutment 15 and hooked end 16 of seid .abutment is arran parallel with the abutment 21`and its hoo ed end 22. The member 'B is formed from a pair et arms 28, 24 whichare arranged in ralleliam with respect to each other and each has its outer rt upturnod as at 25 and terminatiug m a rounded portion 26 which merges into n downwan ly-dependin inclined loo 27 which constitutes a ook. The ii'rin 2. nt its inner ond is looped around the arm l1 ut one nido of the rounded portion ll und iis at 28 whereby the crm 23 is pivotnlly-conucetcd to the lueuibcr A. The
'mm2-t nt its inner end is looped around the n rni 18 nt one side of the rounded portion 17 ini ut 20 whereby the arm 24 is pivotally. connected to the member A. l-rojccting from the looped portion 28 is iin ungleslnipcd extrusion comprising u lon itudiniiIIy-oxtcnding .irm uud u vertu-n ly dis posed urin 3l. Projecting from the looped portion 2i) is iin an le-shsped extension comprising s longitii inail :extending lrm 82 and n verticsllpeirtcn ing erm 88. The iiii Iii-shaped extensions .ere rsll'el.
fvhen the Iii'iiiif device is utilised ss s removeble lisndle or rcmovin s receptscleg the srmii 14 und 20 extend im er the rim iind the sbutments 15 end 21 engie the body-portion 4 of the receptacle. c snle-shiiped extensions project over and into -ie receptacle und the lower ends of the arms 3l iind 83 of the extensions enge 'the' inner fece of the rece tscle. This is c curly shown in Fig. l. hsndle portions of the niemheni A und B, ere then moved towerd eneli other end the rcceptscle is tirlnly gripped and een reedil be removed from one piece to the other. o arms 14 and 20 coniititiitcn sup rt for the rim and tbc arms 3l, 83 und ii mtmentii 15, 2l form whet muy be termed clsm for securely gripping the hodyrtion o the rceeptscle to revent the stter from sli ping when i is moved by meiins of the ifter. When the lifting device is used es grippin tongs for moving pie plates or puns, the ook 27 is positioned under the rim 7 nnd'the hooked cnds 16, 22 of the sbutments 15, 21 also politioned under the rim 7o ite to the ition of the hook 27.
