ABRAHAM T. GOLDFIELD, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 11, 1910.
Application filed November 27, 1909. Serial No. 530,148.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM T. GOLD- FIELD, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residin at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to toys and more especially to stables, stores, doll houses and similar toys representing a house or similar structure and adapted to hold and inclose such toys as furniture, carts, animals, etc., and is provided with a hinged roof and front wall, the latter adapted to be folded backward when the structure is opened, but which is allowed to swing forward and close the stable or house when notin use. These and other objects and details of the invention are more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the claims and illustrated in the drawings, where:
Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a stable constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view of same with the front open. Fig. 3 shows the front wall being lowered to close the stable.
While the drawings show a stable for the purpose of illustrating the invention, it is obvious that the features of the invention may be applied to many similar toys, and the stable is mounted on a base 5 with side and rear walls 6 and 7. The interior may be provided with stalls separated by partitions 8 for the reception of carts, wagons and horses and the roof 9 is hinged at its rear end to the wall 7 as best shown in Fig. 2. At the front end of the roof 9 is the cornice 10 and to this cornice is hinged a wall 11 which is held in an elevated position while its rear edge is lodge in a groove 12 in the upper end of the wall 7, but when it is desired to close up the stable the roof 9 is lifted to the position shown in Fig. 3 when it is then possible to remove the wall 11 from-the groove 12 and allow it to swing forward toward the front of the stable so as to close it as shown in Fig. 1.
In the form of stable shown in Fig. 2 the front wall 11 is held in position when down, by the front post of the stalls and a vertical stri 13 at each side wall and for purpose of eooration a sign and cornice 14 may be provided and secured to the roof by means of dowel pins or other similar devices.
It is obvious that the construction and arrangement of the various parts embodying the invention may be otherwise modified without departing from the essential features above described.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: I
1. In a toy, the combination with a box having an open front, of a roof hinged at its rear end to the back wall, and a front wall hinged to the lower side of the roof and adapted to be held up against same by the rear wall or to be swung forward to close the open front of the box.
2. In a toy, the combination with a box having side and rear walls and an Open front, of a roof with a cornice and hinged to the rear wall, and a front wall hinged to the cornice and supported by the upper end of the rear wall when folded beneath the roof and adapted to be swung forward to close the open front of the box.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ABRAHAM T. GOLDFIELD.
