' G. WINTERS. SHOWER BATH APPARATUS- APPLICATION IILED OCT. 25, 1909.
Patented 0ct.11,1910.
WITNESSES i ATTORNEY- JTE STATEd PAT FIQE.
GEORGE WINTERS, OF BAY CITY, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF T0 PEARL M. HALLER, OF BAY CITY, MICHIGAN.
SHOWER-BATH APPARATUS.
1 Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 11, 1910.
Application filed October 25, 1909. Serial No. 524,431.
To all whom it may concern:
.l 3e it known that I. GEORGE lVINTERs, a citizen of the Unlted States. residing at Bay City, in the county of Bay and State of l\Iichigan. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shower-Bath Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full. clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention is a shower bath apparatus and pertains more particularly to shower bath attachments that can be applied to ordinary bath tubs.
The objects of the invention are, first, to produce a shower bath apparatus that is simple in construction. one that is not liable to get out of order. and that can be applied to the rim of an ordinary bath tub without the necessity of attaching to the wall or tures of the room. any brackets such as are commonly used in bath tub showers, for carrying spray curtains and the like.
A further object is to provide a device in which the direction of the sprays can be ad- I justed vertically. that is, to spray horizontally or downward for a needle bath effect, or to spray as a fountain. down upon the shoulders of the occupant of the tub. and
to accomplish these adjustments of the spray easily and quickly.
lVith the foregoing objects in view. my invention consists of a device as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. in which Figure l is a top plan view of the tub with l i or shower bath effect. and can be readily atmy improvementattached. Fig. :2 is a perspective partly broken away. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line .r-r of Fig. 1. and Fig. 4 is a similar section on the line y-y of Fig. 1.
As is plainly illustrated in the drawings, the device consists in a pair of tubes 1. 1. arranged respectively at. the sides of the tub and suspended from the side by means of hooked hangers. The hangers 2. 2 at the rear end of the tub are provided at their lower ends with hooks 2". in which the tubes 1, 1 rest. The front hangers 2 are provided with hooks 2* to receive the front ends of the tubes, the said hooks being provided with set screws 2 by which the tube can be clamped to the hanger.
To the front end of each tube is secured a rubber tube 3, connected to a tee 3*, the side outlet of the tee being connected by means of a tube 3 with a faucet outlet 6. The temperature and force of the water is regulated by the faucet valves :7. Along the side of each tube 1 are one or more rows of perforations 1, the rear erforations bein arranged as shown in Big. 1, to spray diagonally forward in the tub, the front perforations to spray diagonally rearward, and the middle perforations to spray transversely of the tub. The sprays are thus focused upon the body of the occupant.
For use as a needle bath the tubes are turned in the hooks of the brackets so that the sprays project slightly downward, and the water is turned on full force.
For shower purposes the tubes are turned so thatthe sprays project from the perforations at a slight elevation and the water is turned on with just sufiicient force to produce the desired fountain effect, that is, the
sprays project upwardly and thus drop into the tub at approximately its middle.
To change the vertical elevation of the spray, it is only necessary to turn the tube in its supports 2' Fig. 2 and to clamp it in place by means of the set screws 9.. i
From the foregoing it will be seen that the spray device is simple in construction, easily adjusted to produce either the needle tached to or removed from an ordinary bath tub.
'hat I claim as my invention and desire tub, and provided at its lower end with a. In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature hook to receive the tube, the hook of one of in presence of two witnesses.
