SAMUEL KARP, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
GARMENT-SLEEVE.
amass.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 3, 1910.
Patented ()ct. a, 1910.
Serial No. 547,035.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL KARI, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment- Sleeves. of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates especially to the sleeves of garments, and has for its object the provision of a cuff which is an improvementupon that shown and described in an application for a. patent for garment sleeve filed by me November IT, 1909. Serial No.
To attain the desired end. my invention consists in certain novel and useful combi nations or arrangements of parts and peculiarities of construction and operation, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a plan view of one side of a sleeve wherewith my cuff is employed, with the long flap thereof unbuttoned. Fig. 2 is a like View with the ends of the long flap buttoned into place. Fig. 3 is a like view with the short flap and the long flap turning down, ready for securing the parts in place, the position of the long flap, before turning down, being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the cuif buttoned into place on an extended sleeve, the position of such cuff being indicated in dotted lines, when the cuff is in place for the shorter sleeve.
Like numerals of reference, wherever they occur, indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
l is the body of the sleeve provided with a short flap 2, substantially the width of the sleeve. The flap is provided with buttons 3 on each side thereof, both interior and exterior, 4 is the long flap, having near each extremity a buttonhole hen it is desired to use the shorter sleeve, the flap 2 is turned up over the exterior of the body of the sleeve, as in Fig. 1, and then the ends of the long flap I are buttoned thereover, as shown in full lines in Fig. 2, and in dotted lines in Fig. 4L. \Vhen it is desired to lengthen the sleeve for the purpose of :uzcommodating the growth of the arms of the wearer, or to protect the wrist from cold, the two (laps are turned down, as shown in Fig. I). and then the eX- tremit-ies of the long flap are buttoned thereover, as shown in full lines in Fig. I- of the drawing. It will thus be seen that I have provided a very neat. inexpensive and ornamental garment cuif adapted to be held in place at the extremity of the sleeve in different positions, changing the length of the sleeve without altering its appearance.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein and desire to se cure by Letters Patent, is:
In a garment sleeve, a body provided at its outer extremity with a short flap, having fastening devices upon each face, in combination with a long flap adapted to be turned over the short flap and secured to either sidc thereof, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereto atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL KARI.
