This invention relates to razor strops, and it has for an object to provide a strop having a honing surface and a finishing surface and to provide a cleaning strop supported by the honing strop and mounted thereto so that in use of the honing` strop vthe said cleaning strop may be swung so that its main body portion will hang downwardly at one side of the honing strop and out of the way of the hands of the operator.

A still further object of my invention is to so assemble the two strops that the one forming the cleaning surface can be readily removed from the one forming the honing and finishing surfaces so that it can be used independently thereof if desired.

The device consists preferably of a strop 1 having a honing surface 2 and a finishing surface 3. At one. end the strop is promember 11 and at the opposite end the strop has secured thereto a leather member or the equivalent thereof in which is formed a loop for receiving one arm of a yoke 5. This yoke is provided with a swivel eye member 6 which may be engaged with a hook or any other equivalent suspending means. A perforation 7 is formed in the strop 1 and as shown, this perforation receives the threaded portion of a bolt 8 on which is formed an annular shoulder 9 and a head 10. A retaining member 11 is formed to provide a main body portion 12 which has formed therein intermediate of its ends a passage 13 for receiving the shoulder 9 of the bolt. The head 10 is disposed at one side of the main body portion 11 of the retaining member and 1t 1s l i l held thereto through the provision of a clamping nut 141 which is engaged with the threaded portion of the bolt and adjustable thereon so that it can be moved against the strop 1 as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. body portion of the retaining has its terminals bent outwardly and then inwardly toward each other to form arms 15. These arms 15 are suitably spaced from the main body portion of the retaining membel` so that the upper end portion of a cleaning strop 16 can be positioned between the main body portion of the retaining member and the arms 15 thereof. The strop 16 is provided at its upper end with a stop member 17 which is formed so that it will engage the main body portion and the arms 15 respectively of the retaining member to limit the movement in one direction of the cleaning strop and to hold it effectively against displacement from the retaining member. The stop member 17 is formed to provide an eye 18 so that should the operator desire to remove the cleaning strop from the honing strop such can be readily accomplished andthe eye of the cleaning strop may be engaged with any suitable supporting hook. The opposing or spaced terminal ends of the retaining member are curved outwardly as shown, to facilitate the insertion of the cleaning strop between the main body portion and the arms 15 respectively of the retaining member.

In use, when it is desired to hone the razor the handle portion f1 of the strop 1 is held in one hand of the operator and with the other hand, the operator may move the retaining member so that it assumes the position approximately at right angles to the strop 1. In this position of the retaining member the cleaning strop will hang downwardly from the holding strop as shown 1n Fig. 1 of the drawing and the user can conveniently manipulatethe razor on the honing surface of the strop 1 without the cleaning strop obstructing the path.
