Be it known that T, HARRY A. FREDEN- l/Vashtubs, Sinks, and Drain-Board Covers,

of which the following is a'specification.

This invention relates to a combined wash-tub, sink and drain-board cover arranged to beconveniently transformed from one use to another.

The object of my invention is to provide for economizing space by uniting in a single structure a wash-tub and a cover for'the same composed of a sink portion and a drainboard portion in a single piece, adapted to be supported and used as .a sink and drain-board or to be swung forward and downward for exposing the tubs for laundry purposes.

Another object is to provide a splashboard which shall direct all water splashed from the sink or tub back into those receptacles.

Another object is 'to rovide'a perfectly sanitary construction, wl fich may be readily kept clean and sweet, and without possibility of insects or dirt being secreted in cracks or joints about the apparatus. v

The parts and combination of parts constit uting my invention will be defined in the c aims.

I will now describe the details of con struction of my combined wash-tub, sink and drain-board cover 'by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view with the cover and sink closed, in position for use. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view, showing the cover and sink swung forward, leaving the tubs free for use.

With this construction and arrangement, two sets of fancet-s located generally above the two compartments, serve for delivering hot and cold water both to the sink and the two compartments of the tub.

The sink E is provided at the bottom and near one end with a strainer e and at its under side with a surrounding and downwardly projecting collar or sleeve e. for engaging" with a drain pipe. The inwardly curved lower edge I) of the splash board will direct'any water which may lodge upon the splash board into the tub. Since the cover and sink are hinged at the front edge, no joint or crack is left at the splash board and the parts thus exposed may .be readilykept clean.

The tub and splash board being placed tight against the wall prevent insects and dust from accumulating as is the case in the usual construction of wash-tubs and sinks. The drain pipe of the sink bein removable will provide for perfect cleanliness, since the parts may be readily cleaned after being disjointed. It will thus be seen that the whole device is the most sanitary .construction.

is brought into a position flush with or below the front upper edge of the tub, and at the'same time the cover is brought closely adjacent to the front face of the tub. The forward edge of the cover, when the latter is not in use, is therefore entirely out of the way of a person using the tub. A special advantage 1s gained by placing the sink near the rear edge of the cover, leaving a flat portion of the cover at the front of the sink, as this constructionbrings the sink, when the same is folded against the inclined front wall of the tub, mainly or entirely at the rear of a vertical plane passing through the top edge of said front wall, and therefore entirely out of the way of aperson standing in front of and using the tub.

Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat- 1. The combination with a washtub provided with a downwardly and rearwardly inclined front wall, of a cover embracing a sink and adapted to rest normally on the top margin of the tub with the sink depending inside of said tub, said cover being pivotally connected at its front margin with the front portion of the tub by pivotal connec" tion permitting said cover to be swung into a downwardly and rearwardly inclined position in front of the tub and below the top of the same and with the top surface of said cover facing toward the tub and the bottom of the sink facing outwardly.

2. The combination with a washtub, of a cover embracing a sink and adapted to rest normally on the top margin of the tub with the sink depending inside of the same, said cover being pivotally connected at its front margin with the front portion of the tub with its pivotal axis forward, and below the level, of the top edge of the front Wall of the tub, by pivotal connection permitting said cover to be swung into a position in front of the tub and below the top of the same with the top surface of said cover facing toward the tub and the bottom of the sink facing outwardly.

3. The combination with a wash-tubhaving a downwardly and rearwardly inclined front wall, of a cover embracin a sink, said cover being connected at its ront margin with the forward portion of the tub by a pivotal connection permitting said cover to be swung forwardly and downwardly into a downwardly and rearwardly inclined position in front of the tub and below the top of the same, and means for detachably securing said cover in its downwardly and rearwardly inclined position.

The combination with a fixed wash- {tub provided with a downwardly and rearwardly inclined front wall, of a cover embracing a sink, said cover'being connected at its front margin with the forward part of the tub by a pivotal connection permitting said cover to be swung into a downwardly and rearwardly inclined position in front of the tub and below the top of the same, and

a sink and adapted to rest normally on the top margin of the tub with the sink depending inside of the same, said cover being connected at itsforward margin with the forward part of the tub by pivotal connection permitting the cover to be'swung into a depending position forward of the tub and below the top of the same, and with its top surface facing toward the tub and the bot tom of the sink facing outwardly, said splash-board being provided with a forwardly projecting flange forming a ledge which meets the rear margin of the cover when said cover is in its normal position.

(3. The combination with a fixed washtub, and an upright splash-board extending above the upper edge of the rear wall of the tub and provided with a forwardly extending ledge which extends over said rear wall, a coveren'fbracing a sink having its rear wall adjacent to the rear edge of said cover and its front wall located at a distance rearwardly from the forward margin of the cover, the said cover being adapted to rest at its margins on the upper edge of the tub with the sink depending therein and having its forward margin connected with the forward portion of the tub by pivotal connection permitting said cover to be swung into a downwardly and rearwardly inclined position in front of the-tub with its top surface facing toward the tub and the bottom of the sink facing outwardly.

7. The combination with a washtub, of an upright splash-board extending above the rear wall of the tub, and a cover embracing a connected sink and drainboard, said cover being adapted to rest on the top margin of the tub with the sink depending therein and being connected at its forward margin with the front part of the tub by pivotal connection permitting the cover to be swung into a depending position in front of the tub and below the top of the same with its top surface facing toward the tub and the bottom of the sink facing outwardly, said splashboard being provided with a forwardly projecting flange forming a ledge which extends over the rear wall of the tub throughout the entire length of the tub and which meets the rear margin of the cover when the cover is'in its closed position.
