This invention relates to receptacle holdhave the same locked therein so that the bottle or jar cannot be stolen or surreptitiously removed and the object thereof is to provide a holder for such purpose in a manner as hereinafter set forth and claimed whereby the receptacle can be conveniently placed therein and also locked without the employment of theordinary lock and key and at the same time preventing the removal tive view of a milk of the seal or closure of the receptacle until the latter is removed from the holder.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a holder for the purpose set forth which shall be comparatively simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, convenient in its use, readily set up with respect to a suitable support therefor, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and such other objects in view as may hereinafter appear, the invention consists of'the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described in detail and then claimed.

Reference will now be had to the drawing forming a part of this specification, wherein there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that the structural elements thereof can be varied or changed, as to the size, shape and manner of assemblage without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

door by screws 3 or other fastening means.

These guides have the confronting edges thereof off-set, as at a to provide vertical" guide flanges 5, and the material bordering upon the lower edges of said flanges is bent inwardly, as at 6 to close the lower ends of guide ways 7 The reference numeral 8 denotes a rectangular plate slidably mounted in the guide Ways 7, and the front side of said plate at the upper and lower edges thereof, is provided with a bottle holder or cage, comprising a band 9 and a cup 10, the former being located at the upper edge of the plate 8 and the latter at the lower edge. The band 9 and the cup 10 are secured to the plate 8 by rivets 11 or other fastening means, and are adapted to cooperate in retaining a milk bottle 12 in a vertical position upon the support or door 1.

The support or door 1 above the plate 8 is provided with an elongated horizontal slot 13 and slidably mounted in said slot is a flat plate 14 of a width greater than the diameter of the mouth of the bottle 12. The plate 14 is of a sufficient length to extend from the inner side of the door 1 outwardly over the bottle 12, and the outer end of the plate is provided with"'a vertical opening 15 to facilitate the movement of the plate from the outer side of the door, it being only necessary to insert the finger in the opening 15 to pull the plate outwardly, as will presently appear.

The inner end of the plate 14 is provided with a button 16, which facilitates the movement of the plate from the inner side of the door and limits an outward movement of the plate 1. One edge of the plate 11 adjacent to the ends thereof is provided with notches 17 and 17' adapted to receive the beveled end 18 of a spring latch-19, carried by the inner side of the door in proximity to one end of the slot 13.

A button 16 limits the outward movement of the plate 14, while the inward movement of the plate 14 is arrested at two points by the entrance of the latch 19 into the notches 17 and 17% The position of the notch 17 with respect to the outer end of the plate let, is such, that when the plate 1 1 is at the limit of its inward movement, the outer end of the plate will project from the slot 13 and will prevent the removal of the plate 8, as if an attempt is made to remove the plateS from its guides, the vertical movement of the plate 8 will be arrested by the projecting end of the plate 14.

The manner in which the holder is used is as follows :After the bottle or receptacle 12 has been placed through the band 9 and seated in the cup 10, the plate 14 is pulled outwardly until the button 16 strikes the inner surface of the door. If an attempt is made to push the plate 14 inwardly, suchmovement will be arrested by the entrance of the latch 19 into the notch 17. When the plate 14 is pulled outwardly, so as to lock the bottle 12 in its support, the plate 14: extends over the top of the bottle and prevents the removal of the seal or closure of the bottle. The latch 19 can only be released from the inside of the door. When the latch is removed from its engagement A device of the class described comprising a support, a holder projecting from one face of said support and adapted to support a receptacle in .a vertical position, a fiat plate mounted in said support and shiftable in a direction at right angles with respect to said receptacle for preventing the removal of the latter when the plate extends over it, and releasable means carried by the inner face of said support and adapted to engage in the side ed e of the plate at the inner portion'thereof and in the same side edge of the plate at the outer portion thereof and when in engagement with the side edgeof the inner portion thereof preventing inward movement of the plate thereby locking the receptacle in the holder and when in engagement with the side edge at the outer portion thereof arresting the inward movement of the plate thereby preventing the passage of the plate entirely through the support.
