WORK-STAND.
Application filed September 8, 1909.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SARAH DYMOKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gross, in the county of Boise and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVork-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an improvement in work stands designed particularly for domestic use and constructed to provide a convenient receptacle for articles usually employed in sewing.
The main object of the present invention is the provision of a work stand constructed to provide a series of independent drawers or compartments, the.main case or body of the stand in which the drawers are supported being mounted for revoluble movement so that the user-may conveniently gain access to any desired drawer without changing her position relative to the stand.
The invention will be described in the following specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a work stand constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the stand, the lower portion of the legs being broken away. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view through the case. Fig. 4 is a plan of the base structure.
Referring particularly to the drawings,
wherein similar parts are indicated by like reference numerals throughout the several views, my improved work stand comprises a base structure 1 including a table 2 of circular form supported through the medium of legs 3, the terminals of which legs are provided with roller supports 1 of any ap proved type.
Movably supported upon the table 2 of the base is a case 4 comprising an upper wall 5, a lower wall 6, and side walls 7, the upper and lower walls being preferably of hexagonal shape in plan and the side walls uniting the upper and lower walls to provide a case of hexagonal form having six independent side faces. The case is movably supported upon the base structure by a pin 8 passed centrally through the lower wall 6 of the case and headed within the same, said pin passing centrally through the table 2 and threaded below said table for the reception of a nut 9 to prevent inde- Specification of Letters Patent.

pendent vertical movement of the case. The lower surface of the bottom wall 6 of the case is provided with a series of casters l0, and the table 2 is provided with an annular track 11 with which said casters 10 cooperate.
The track is preferably formed of a single strip of metal having its edges bent vertically to provide side flanges, the distance between said flanges being such as to accommodate the rollers or other movable members of the casters 10, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.
Each side wall 7 of the case 4; is formed with an approximately centrally disposed opening 11 within which is mounted for endwise movement a drawer 12. The face plate 13 of the drawer is of greater dimensions than the opening 11, so that when the drawer is closed said face plate will overlie and rest against the surface of the side wall. The face plate is also provided with a drawer pull 14, whereby said drawer may be conveniently operated.
I Projecting inwardly from each side wall in alinement with the side edges of the opening 11 are partitions 15, which extend in parallel relation to a diametric line of the case 4 and form side guides for the drawer 12. The openings are so arranged in the particular walls that the partitions 15 of each wall will, at their inner ends, abut the adjacent partition 15 of the next succeeding wall, so that the inner ends of the respective partitions mutually interbrace and thereby dispense with specific means for such bracing. The space within the inner edges of the partitions is utilized in the present construction for housing a drawer 16, side walls or guides 17 being secured in place to guide said drawer. The drawer 16, which is in the nature of a secret drawer being unexposed when the parts of the case are in normal position, is approximately of the Width and height, though of less length than one of the drawers 12, and is arranged directly in rear of and in alinement with one of the drawers 12, so that said drawer 16 is accessible only after withdrawal of the particular drawer 12, the side guides 17 of the secret drawer being so spaced relative to the guides 15 of the particular drawer 12 that said guides 15 will serve as guides for the secret drawer in the complete withdrawal of the latter, that is the inner terminals of the particular guides 15 will be engaged by the sidewalls of the particular drawer 16 before said side walls ride beyond the forward edges of the guides 17, thereby facilitating the removal and insertion of the secret drawer. V
The particular drawers 12 are to be furnished for the specific purpose desired, one
of said drawers being provided with spool holders 18, another with pin and needle cushions 19 and 20 and so on throughout the series of drawers, the particular arrangement and construction of these furnishings being immaterial so far as the present invention is concerned.
The work stand constructed as described provides a convenient receptacle for the necessary requisites in sewing, the convenient rotative mounting of the case permitting the user of the work stand to readily reach any desired drawer by rotating the case, while the entire stand may be readily moved from place to place as desired.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new, is
A work stand including a base structure, a case rotatively mounted thereon, said case comprising an upper and a lower wall and a series of side walls angularly disposed wit-h relation to each other, a drawer movably mounted in each side wall, a series of guide partitions projecting inward from each side wall, the partitions of each side wall being at their inner ends connected to the partitions of the adjacent side wall, spaced guide walls mounted in rear of and in alinement with the partitions projecting from one side wall, and a secret drawer movable betweensaid guide walls and concealed by the drawer between said partitions.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
