CHARLES A. HERVEY, OF LANSING, MICHIGAN.
BOTTLE AND ATTACHMENT THEREFOR.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. Hnnvny, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Lansing, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bottles and Attachments Therefor, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bottles and attachments therefor, and. one of the principal objects of the same is to provide means for indicating the contents of the bottle to the person handling the same.
Bottles provided with ordinary stoppers containing poisonous and other dangerous drugs are very liable to be opened and used by mistake.
It is one of the principal objects of my invention to provide a simple and reliable means for preventing such accidents.
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bottle mouth or neck provided with an attachment made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the attachment. Fig. 4 is an underside plan view of the same disconnected from the bottle.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a bottle neck which may be of any desired size or contour, and said bottle Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 24, 1909.
Patented June "T, 1910.
Serial No. 509,301.
being designed to contain poisonous or dangerous drugs or chemicals. The stopper 2 may be of any desired shape or ma terial. The bottle neck 1 is preferably provided with a head 3.
My indicator or attachment comprises a sheet metal plate having a central aperture st, and projecting from the outer edge of the plate is a series of points or prongs Between the points or prongs 5 a series of fingers 6 is provided, said fingers adapted to be bent around the head 3 of the bottle to hold the attachment in position.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that as the bottle is taken in the hand for use the contents of the bottle will be indicated by the points or prongs 5 picking the fingers of the user.
I claim The herein described poison bottle comprising a bottle having a bead at the upper end of the neck thereof, and a sheet metal attachment provided with a series of radially projecting fingers having pointed outer ends and intermediate fingers adapted to be bent around the bead on the bottle to hold the device in place.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of tvm witnesses.
