a part of this specification.
' The nature of my invention consistsin the construction-oi the cylinder of a rotary washing-machine,
said cylinder being formed of a series of troughs, open- 'on its outer side in the centre, a pin or journal, 11,
which rests in suitable supports or boxes in the sides of the boiler A.
One of the journals 1) is hollow, and a crank, 01, is inserted into the same through the side of the boiler, so as to revolve the cylinder in either direction.
The heads a a are connected together by means of a series of alternating troughs, e e and t' i.
The troughs e 0 open internally in the rotary cylinder, while the other troughs, 'i t, open outwardly, and have theininner edge perforated, as seen in'fig. 2, by which the water is taken in at the back and poured into the cylinder and upon the clothes when the cylinder is turned.
, The troughs e e and i t are placedsuitable distances apart, and along the entire circumference of the heads a a, thus forming a cylinder in which the clothes are placed.
any suitable manned on the otherl Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A cylinder for washing-machines, constructed as herein described, of the heads a a and troughs e eand t t, the said troughs opening alternately into and outpu rposes herein set forth.
