To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER H. MAXWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pendent Sprayer- Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to pendent sprayer supports adapted to flexible tubes of shower baths or elsewhere, and the objects of my improvements are to provide means for moving and maintaining the support with the tube in different vertical positions and for maintaining the sprayer normally with perforations downward; to provide means for removably securing the tube in different longitudinal positions in the support; to provide means for maintaining the tube in pre determined curved positions to prevent the tube from kinking and the sprayer fromv swerving and splashing under pressure; and
to provide a device both simple and durable in construction and peculiarly suited to the purposes for which it is intended. These objects are attained in the following de-' scribed manner as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is an elevation of a pendentsprayer support embodying my improvements, and operatively positioned for use as I a shower bath; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. 3, a plan, and Fig. 4c, a section on the line aa of Fig. 3.
In the drawings, 1 represents a-bath tub, 2 a cock communicating with a water supply under pressure, 3 a flexible tube removably secured at one end to said cock and provided-at the other end with a sprinkling nozzle 4, all being constructed and arranged in the ordinary manner of shower baths.
An ordinary stop pulley 5 as used for window curtain anp provided with the usual cord 6 may be secured at a. fixed point 7 directly above the bathtub l. A support 8 secured to one endof the cord may be thereby moved and maintained indifferent elevated positions in the usual manner. Said support consists of a strip of sheet metal curved laterally to form a longitudinal semi-circular groove 9 and also curved longitudinally in form the segment of a circle with the said longitudinal groove in its face. The end portions of said support are disposed in parallel planes by means of lateral bends 11 being formed near its middle portion. A notch 10 is formed in the middle portion of one edge of the support and an car 12 perforated at 13 projects from the opposite edge in registration with the'notch and by means of an upward bend let terminates directly over groove 5), whereby an open gap 15 is formed by the notch for the rem-ovable insertion of the tube under the ear andwithin the groove.
In operation, an intermediate portion of a flexible tube of the proper size may be inserted through the gap under the ear and within the longitudinal groove and prevent-ed by means of the lateral curves therein from longitudinal movement during the moving and maintaining of the support with the tube therein in difierent positions of vertical adjustment.
Having fully described my improvements, what I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a flexible tube support consisting of metal in form the segment of a ring and having a peripheral groove, the end portions of said support being disposed parallel with and on opposite-sides of the same plane, and an ear extending from .one side of the middle portion thereof and terminating directly opposite the peripheral groove.
2. The combination with a support in form the segment of a circle, and having a semicircular peripheral groove, and also provided with an ear, the end portions of said support being disposed parallel with and on opposite sides of the same plane, of a flexible tube having an intermediate portion in engagement with said groove, and :u'ljustab'le means secured at a fixed point and engaging with said ear for moving and maintaining the support with the tube in different positions of elevation.
3. In a pendent sprayer support, the combination with a member consisting of metalcurved to form the segment of a circle With a peripheral groove and provided With a perforated ear, of a flexible tube provided with a sprayer and having an intermediate portion thereof in engagement With Said groove, and means depending from a fixed point and engaging with the ear for maintaining the support with the tube and the sprayer in a predetermined position of ele vation.
