Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it lmown that I, JAMES SVANDA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Curtain-Pole and Shade-Roller Supporting Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is a combined curtain and shade supporting. bracket of a nature adjustable to difi'erent sizes of curtain poles and shade rollers, and my object is to provide a device of this character in which the adjustable bracket proper may be locked from movement after being adjusted upon its plate, and one in which the shade roller may be mounted inside, or upon the surface of, the window frame as may be desired. These objects, and the advantages, of my invention will be apparent from the following description in which reference is made to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, and in which,

In the practical embodiment of my invention as shown, I provide a bracket plate 10 which is secured upon the surface of the window frame A. by means of a screw 11, and has an angularly extending inner end 12 adapted to project within the frame and secured by a screw 13. The body portion of the plate, that is that portion thereof which lies without the frame, is wedge shaped in cross section, while its said extension 12 has an apertured boss 14 for the reception of the pintle of a shade roller.
A bracket 15 has within its straight side edge, a wedge-shaped recess 16 whereby it may engage, and slide, upon the plate 10 and be supported thereby. The bracket 15 has an opening 17 to receive the pintle of a shade roller, and has an opening 18 through which a cord may be passed and one end thereof secured to the lower end of a curtain, whereby to raise the same when sweeping. Said bracket further has a curved recess 19 in its upper edge for the reception of a curtain pole, and inwardly curved arms 20 pivoted thereupon at opposite sides of said recess, for inward movement to engage about the pole and maintain it in position. Adjacent its recess 16, bracket 15 also has a pivotally mounted cam member 21 which when rotated on its pivot will bind against plate 10 and maintain said bracket in selected adjustment thereon. Thus a curtain pole may be held upon the bracket 15 and also a shade roller when the latter is desired outside the window casing. When however, the shade roller is desired within the frame its pintle is engaged within the recess of the extension 12 of the plate 10.
It will be understood that the brackets 15 and plates 10 are provided in pairs, the opening 17 of one of the former being round, and slotted in the other, and the recesses of the bosses 14 of the latter being round in one and slotted in the other.
I claim:
In a device of the character described, the combination of a supporting plate wedgeshaped in cross section and secured upon a window frame and provided with an inner angular end extending within said frame and having means to receive the pintle of a shade roller, a bracket having a Wedgeshaped recess whereby to fit and slide upon said plate, and provided with a recess to receive a curtain pole, inwardly curved arms pivoted upon sald bracket at opposite sides of its last named recess to embrace the pole, at pivoted cam member mounted upon said bracket adjacent its first named recess to engage the supporting plate upon its rotary movement, said bracket further havin an opening to receive the pintle of a siade roller, and a second opening'to receive a curtain manipulating cord.
