This invention relates to garment sup-' porters, the object of the invention being to provide a garment supporter specially adapted for men, the supporter embodying means for upholding the hose or socks and also holding down the shirt so as to render the same better fitting and appearing especially in the summer season when the usual vest is frequently dispensed with. A

Vith the above general objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, 5

combination and arrangement of parts herein fully described, illustrated and claimed. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a, side elevation of the supporter shown in its applied position. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View of the upper buckle. Fig. 3 is a plan view of said buckle and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the yoke or connector. Fig. 5 is a detail View of a modified form of buckle.

The supporter of this invention comprises a main elastic strap 1 of suflicient length to extend from the sock upward to the shirt along the outer side of the leg as shown in F 1. To the lower end of saidstrap is connected a hose clip or fastener 2 of any usual or preferred construction while to the upper end of said strap is connected abuckle 3 preferably of the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3. v

The buckle 2 comprises a U-shaped guide 4 upon which is arranged a slide 5having a slot 6 through which the upper end of the strap 1 is looped and caught and held as shown in Fig. 2 thus providing for adjusting the length of the strap 1. or in other words the distance between the clip 2 and the buckle 3.

At itsupper end the buckle is provided with a roller 7 grooved as shown in Fig. 2 to receive a cord 8 which has attached to the opposite ends thereof clasps 9 adapted to engage the edgesof the shirt shown at -10 at opposite sides of the side slit 11 in the pensate for Variations in the osture of the wearer without throwing un ue strain on the supporting device.

Instead of providing the buckle 3 with a roller? as herein above described, said buckle may be provided with an arcuate guide 7 concaved on the under side to form a groove or gutter in which a cord 8 is adapted to slide, the construction described permitting the cord 8 to adjust itself to the buckle to equalize the tension of the portions of the shirt at opposite sides of the slit therein.

Having described the invention I claim:

1. The herein described garment supporter comprising an elastic strap, a hose engaging fastener at one end thereof, a shirt engaging fastener at the opposite end thereof, means for taking up said strap, and a garter having a sliding connection with said strap.
