` Specification of Letters Patent. i Patented Feb. 15, 1910..
Application tiled April 21, 1909i. Serial No. 491,237. y
`vaporizing devices and it consists in the combinations,' constructions and arrangements hereindescribed and claimed.
An object of my invention' is to provide a device to be used in show cases which will vaporize a suilicient quantity of water to keep the atmosphere of the case moist so as to prevent nthe drying out of cigars placed therein.
A further object ofI my invention is to 1 provide a device of simple and economical construction for carrying out lthe object specified.
@ther objects and advantages will appear in the following specification and the novel features of thev invention vwill be particu-4 larly pointed out in theappended claim.
invention is illustrated in the accom- Figure 1 1s a vertical. section through theA device. Fig. 2 is a section. along the line .5l-e2 of Fig. 1,. and Fig.v 3 is a sectional view of a modified form of the cover.
In carryin out my invention I provide a receptacle o the' shape shown in Fig. 1. The receptacle may be made of any suitable material such as metal, glass or enamel Ware and may have any finish such as nickeling, oxidizing etc. The receptacle comprises an exterior easing Ak of preferably cylindrical or conical shape and an interior integral casing B havmg a raised-bottom C so as to form a recess D on the under side. flBetween the exterior and interioi' casings I arrange av non-conducting lining E. yThis may be asbestos`m`agnes1a, hair or other non-conductor or it may be a dead Aair space. The receptacle-thus formed is mounted upon an insulating base F of marble, slate or similar material having a threaded opening G in its center into which the base I-I of an electric light bulb K may be screwed. The bulb is arranged to project upward into the recess D as shown in Fig. 1. Instead of the electric lamp a heating coil may be used. The
rplacenfient from the base.
receptacle is filled with water and is covered with a perforated topT.
From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device the operation thereof may be readily understood. rlhe rnoistener is placed in a show case and the lamp or coil is connected with a source of electric current. The heat from the lamp is suicient to evaporate the waterslowly and it escapes through the perforations in the cover T andv keeps the atmosphere of the case continually moist. As the water evaporatesvit may be readily replaced. A
In order to keep the'receptacle in proper position upon the insulated base F the lower edgesof the outer casing A may be rounded as shown at a tto tit the groove f in the top of the base F thereby preventing the dis- Fig. 3 shows a modiied form of cover. In this form the resilient tube V has an eX- panded portion 'Ir provided with a grooved edge g arranged to lit over the top of the receptacle. The branches X, Y and Z eX- tend from the .main tube V. 'Ihe walls of the tube are insulated to retain the heat, and to prevent condensation. The vapor may thus be transmitted to any place where it is needed.
I am aware that other forms of thev device basedupon the same general idea may `be made but I consider as my own all such modifications, as fairly fall'within the spirit and the scope of the invention.
` I claim: Y. Y
A vaporizingy vdevice comprising an eX- terior casing provided with a rounded lower edge, anV integral interior casingv joined to said outer casmg at its top edge, insulating material between said inner and outer casings, the bottom of-fzsaid. interior casing be,
