PERFUME VAPOBIZER.
Application filed October so, 1923. Serial No. 671,803.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known "that I I, J OHN Bnasorrnn, a citizen of theUnited States, and a resident of Hot Springsfin the county of Garland and State'of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Perfume Vaporizers, of which the following is 'a specification. V
This invention relates to a perfume vaporizer which is especially designed for use in theatres, public buildings or the like.
Theobject oftlie invention is to provide a vaporizer of this character which is attractive and ornamental in appearance so as toblend in with the decorative features of the-building in which it is employed and which at the same time is effective to thoroughly disseminate the perfume, deodorant or other substance utilized. 7
Another important object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this character and having the foregoing advantages and which. is also equally well adapted to be mounted uponan upright or pendant electrical fixture such as are usually found in places where the device is used, the vaporizer employing electrical heating means whereby the electrical fixtures with which the device is associated are adapted to servenot only as supporting means therefor but also. provide a sourceof current forthe electric heating means of the vaporizer.
Another object is-to provide a. device of this characterwhich is of simple, durable construction, easy andcomparatively inexpensive to manufacture and operate.
Other objects and advantages oftheinvention reside in certain novel features of the construction,combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in thejappended claims, reference being had to the'accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in'which:
Figure 1 isaperspective view illustrating one embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a view thereof, partly in elevation, and partly in transverse vertical section: v
, Figure 3 is a view in sidefelevation, showing another embodiment of the invention; and
Figure 4 is a sectional view illustrating GEORGE the internal construction of the arrangement shown in Figure 3.
Referring to the drawings wherein, for the sake of illustration is shown the preferred embodiments of the invention and more par: ticularly to Figures 1 and 2 wherein the invention is shown constructed and adapted for use with pendant fixtures, the numeral 5 designates a supporting structure from which an electric fixture or socket 6 depends. ."The vaporizer which constitutes the present invention is designated generally at 7. and is shown as comprising a hollow body or container 8 made up of an outer shell 9 of brass or other suitable metal crimped and formed to enlarge toward its uppc'r'end by a ser es of corrugationslO of gradually in creasing size. Preferably the shell 9 has integrally formed or otherwise secured to its lower end a pendant knob or ornament lli The extreme upper edge ofthe metallic shell,
9 is provided with an upstanding annular fiange 12. plaster of Paris or other material impervious to liquid is snugly fitted within the metallic shell 9 and corresponds in shape thereto. The upper edge of the linerOr-inner shell 13 terminates immediately below the annular flange 12 of the metallic shell 9 and this Lip--v per edge of the liner 13 is formedwithan inwardly extending horizontal marginal flange 14: providing a seat 15 for the lower flanged end 16 of a coupling ring 17 which rests on the seat 15 and which is suitably secured t0 the flange 12. The flange 12 may be headed over the lower'flanged end of the An inner shell or liner .13 of ring 17 or it may be welded, soldered or ling ring 17 carried by the body 9 of the I container. This band 23 is provided with a number of nuts or bearings 24 in wh ch u e. his plug; 9-hast ts a s-s el 3 extended below the lower end of the plug,
clamping screws 25 are threaded. These screws 25 engage the clamping ring lZWlllGll if desired may; be provided; with seats, or, openings 26 for the screws 25. -The upper end of the glass cap 19 is provided with an opening 27 in which an internally threaded bearing bushing 28 is sultably secured. Th s bearing bushing 28 has threadedly connected thereto a screw plug 29 adaptedto screw into the socket 6 of the pendant electrical as indicatedtatfil. The extension 81 ofthe shell ofthe plug 29 is corrugated or threaded and engages, the threaded internal wall of thehusliing28and afiords a; socket for an, electric lamp 32which screws into, i llrextension 31 and which is disposed within the top: 18 andthe container 8.for the purpose of heating or vaporizing the perfume or substancepla'cedin the container 8. Obviously the extensionl3l maybe releasably secured in the bushing 28 by any form of releasable.
fasten ing means and if found desirable the inner wal'l or bore of I the bushing may be, made slnooth, the extension bieing loosely fitted "in th e smooth I bore and held therein yicrewsor el kein e of the rrangement shown, The illustrated arrangement is however the preferredmode and has many advantages apparent to those skilled'in the art. It is to beunderstoodtlrat the plug 29 is ofstandard and conventional construction 7 exceptas to, theprovision ofthe extension 35 a v 31 of its shell; 7 p 7 The form of the invention shown in Figures 3 ande'is adapted for us'e with up-. right electric 'fi ztures, such for instance as designated at '35, the electric fixture em ody' ng, as pke l em constii tuting the invention in this embodiment is designated generally at 37 and as before in eludes a containen38 made up of an outer metallicshell' and aniinner liner of plasterof Paris and shaped and ornamentedin appearance as inthe otheriembodiment. In lieu however of providing'the pendant knob or ornament 1O theloweiflend of the containericarries an. electrical plug connection 39 adapted ;to" screw, into, and electrically;
able securing means may be utilized and if desired the flange of the seat 44L may be madelarger and provided with bearings for clamping screws or the top 42 be threaded onto the flange of the seat. 44. In
the. socket 41 anielectr'ic: lamp or heating e1ement45 is screwed and depends within the container 38 as in the other. embodiment.
