Be 1t known that I, NATHAN KAUFFMANN,

` a citizen-otl the United States, residing at (S2 Avenue Malakoff, Paris, France, have 1nvented anew and useful I'mprovementm `byhirt-.Collars, of which the following is a specification.

My, invention relates to improvements 1n shirt collars, particularly ofthe kind known as' turn-down or loci; collars, although it may be applied to collars o't' any kind and form, and made of linen, gutta percha, or any other suitable material, and the object of my improvement to enable the wearer to adjust the collar toa higher or lower position.

My invention is by way of example illustrated 'n the accompanying drawing, in which--l Figure l shows a perspective view of a lock collar provided with two stud holes, ac-

'As usual the collar-A is provided at each end with a flap B, which flaps are adapted to be fastened to the front stud or so 'as to ultimately lie over one another, as shown in Fim', in the usual manner. Each liap.B is 1n the form shown in Figs. 1 to 3 provided with two holes C, C1', which are arranged substantially in horizontal direction, and the inner fold or part D of the collar, which lies around the neck ofthe wearer is provided with two holes E, El, also arranged substantially parallel and in horizontal direction.

It is apparent that the wearer may at.will use either of the holes 0.01' C1, to fasten the collar in front at hiher or lower position,D and in the same way e may make use of the holes E, El, to lower or raise the collar behind, if desired.

lt will be understood that by providing shirt collars with a plurality of Stud'holes in the manner described it is possible to change the appearance ot" the collar with regard to its depth, and the inconvenience of a bad lit is thereby overcome, the arrangement having;a moreover the advantage that, it one olf the hol'es tears, as it often occurs, the collar is not at that moment rendered useless, for it enables the wearer to make at once use of any one of the other stud holes with which the collar is provided.

While l have described in the foregoing specification specitie examples of the arrangement preferred, I am aware that numerous changes may he made as regards both the number an the position ofthe holesl with regard to one another, without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and I therefore do not wish to he understood as limiting myself by the positive terms employed in connection with the" description, except such as the state of art may require.
