To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARTHA E. REICHELT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Syringe-Bidets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a combined vaginal syringe and bidet or vessel.

The object of the invention resides in the provision of a syringe associated with a bidet or vessel in such a way that the syringe may be easily introduced and the escaping liquid flow back into the bidet or vessel, whereby the syringe may be continually refilled to continue the operation of the syringe, and thereby thoroughly douche each and every part of'the female organs.

With the above and other objects in view, the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that the changes may be made in the form, proportion, size and minor details without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawings :Figure 1 is a sectional view, showing parts of the human body in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the instrument. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective of the syringe proper. Fig. 4 is a detail view of the guide ring. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the bushing.

Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawings, the reference character 1 indicates the bidet or other vessel composed of rubber, earthenware or any other suitable material whose inner end is open, as at 2, and whose upper surface is open at 8 throughout a portion of its length, the outer end of the bidet being closed save for a central eye 4 in which latter is preferably fitted a rubber bushing 5 for a purpose presently explained. The body of the bidet or vessel 1 is formed preferably upon a slight curve from end to end.

A groove 6 is formed in the interior of the bidet or vessel 1 to receive a yieldable guide element 7 formed of wire or similar material. This guide element 7 is somewhat in the form of a ring and has inwardly directed converging parts 8 which terminate in an open eye 9 disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye 1 to receive and guide the stem 10 of the syringe whose other parts re side in the nozzle 11 and the bulb 12, the nozzle being readily detachable with relation to the stem so that the syringe may be operatively associated with or disengaged from the bidet, as will be hereinafter more fully explainec The rubber bushing 5, hereinbefore' referred to, is of peculiar formation in that it has a tubular .body portion 13 and two flanges 14 and 15 at one end, the flange 14 adapted to lie against the inner face of the outer end of the bidet, and the flange 15 adapted to lie against the outer face of the said outer end of'the instrument. The tubular body portion 13 of the bushing 5 projects inwardly of the bidet to form a guide for cooperation with the eye 9 of the guide element 7.

In practice the nozzle 11 may be detachably secured to the stem 10 by means of a thread 16 or any other suitable means, so that when it is desired to use the instrument the nozzle may be removed from the stem to permit the latter to be inserted through the eye of the bushing 5 and forced between the converging portions 8 of the guide element 7 and into the eye 9 of the latter. The nozzle is then replaced upon the stem and the syringe filled with the liquid contained in the bidet, either before or after the latter has been placed close to the mouth of the vagina. In any event, the bidet is placed at the mouth of the vagina and the syringe slidably shifted in its guides and introduced into the uterus. Operation of the syringe will douche each and every part of the female organs and the escaping liquid will flow back into the bidet from which it may again be taken up by the syringe and the douching continued as often as desired.

To cleanse the instrument, the nozzle may be removed from the stem as will now be understood and the syringe detached from the bidet whereby all parts of the instrument. may easily and quickly be cleaned in any desired manner. However, it is to be understood that the parts need not necessarily be disassembled but that they may always remain in their assembled relation if desired.

What is claimed is 1. An instrument of the character described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, a bushing in said eye, the receptacle having an internal groove, a yielding guide element fitted in said groove and having inwardly directed converging parts terminating in an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted in the eye of said guide and in said bushing.

An instrument of the class described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, the top of the vessel being open throughout a portion of its length, a bushing in said eye, the vessel having an internal groove, a yieldable guide element fitted in said groove and having inwardly directed converging parts terminating in an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted in the eye of said guide and in said bushing.

An instrument of the class described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, the vessel having an internal groove, a yieldable guide element fitted in said groove and having inwardly directed converging parts terminating in an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted through said eyes.

An instrument of the character described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, a bushing in said eye, the vessel having an internal groove, a yieldable guide element fitted in said groove and provided with an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe mounted in the eye of said guide and in said bushing.

An instrument of the class described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, the vessel having an internal groove, a yieldable guide element fitted in said groove and provided with an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted through said eyes.

6. An instrument of the character described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, a bushing in said eye and projecting into said vessel, the receptacle having an internal groove, a yieldable guide element fitted in said groove and provided with a centrally aranged eye disposed for alinement. with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted in the bushing and the eye 1 i of said guide element.

7. An instrument of the class described comprising a vessel having an open inner end and a closed outer end provided with an eye, a yieldable guide element fitted in the vessel and having inwardly directed converging parts terminating in an eye disposed for alinement with the aforesaid eye, and a syringe slidably mounted in the eye of said guide and said vessel.
