Description

EDWARD V. SZYPERSKI, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DOUCHE-NOZZLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 4, 1920.
Application led September 25, 1919. Serial No. 326,259.
To al? '1c/tom t may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD V. SzYPnnsKi, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Detroit, in the county of Wvayne and State of Michigan, have invented a cerain new and useful Douche-Nozzle; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accom-l panying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to 4douche nozzles, and particularly to the provision in connection therewith of means for holding an antiseptic material in the passage-way therethrough to be dissolved by water in its flow through the nozzle and carried in solution thereby to the parts to be treated.
The object of my invention is the provision, in connection with a nozzle of the character described, of simple, eliicient and easily accessible means for holding or carrying a medicinal compound in pill, powder or other form within the nozzle in position to be dissolved by water in its passage therethrough.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a means of this character which is capable of being removed from the nozzle without affecting its usefulness and only used in connection therewith when it is desired to dissolve a medicinal compound in the douche water.
The invention is fully described in the following'v specification, and while, in its broader aspect, it is capable of modification in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment thereofl is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a vcentral longitudinal section of the nozzle embodying the invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are enlarged side and inner end views of the container for a medicinal compound, and Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4 4 in Fig. l.
Referring to the drawings, l designates a douche nozzle of the ordinary or any suitable type, and which is provided in a side thereof adjacent to its inner end with an opening 2 in which a container 3 for holding a medicinal compound of pill, powder or other suitable form may be inserted, which, in the present instance, is shown in cept the water in its passage therethrough, i
and is perforated so that a portion at least of the water is caused to pass through the container in dissolving contact with the compound.
The container is retained on its seat in the nozzle and is closed at its outer end by a cap 4 which screws over the boss or projection 5 on the side of the nozzle through which the opening 2 is provided. In order that the compound may be held in the path of passage of the water through the nozzle, the cap 4 is provided at its inner side with a projection 6 for fitting into the open end of the container, as indicated.
It is preferable to enlarge the nozzle passage at the point of insertion of the container 3 therein so that a thin space for the passage of water is provided between the passage wall and each side of the container, as shown in Fig. 4. Should it be desired, however, to have all of the water pass through the container, the space in the nozzle passage-way around the container may be omitted.
It is evident that with my invention if it is desired to medicate a douche water, the container 3 with a desired medicinal compound therein may be inserted within the nozzle passsage-way and the'cap 4 screwed in position on the projection 5 both to retain the container in proper position in the passage-way and to confine the compound within the portion of the container in line with the nozzle passage-way. The douche water then in passing through the nozzle enters and passes through the container causing a' dissolving of the compound so that it is carried in solvent form with the water to the parts to be treated. Should it be desired not to use a medicinal compound in the douche water, the container 3 may be removed from the nozzle and the cap 4 then screwed in position on the projection 5 to close the opening 2 and prevent the escape of water therethrough.
I Wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction, arrangement or form of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications and changes Without departing from the spirit of the claims.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
1. A douche nozzle having an opening in a side thereof7 a container for a medicinal compound mounted in said opening and projected into the nozzle passageway adapted to permit the passage of Water therethrough, and means for Closing the outer end of said opening. Y
2. A douche nozzle having an opening in a side thereof and a container for a medicinal compound projected through said opening and into the nozzle passage-Way and adapted to permit the passage of Water therethrough, and means for closing the A outer end of the container.
3. A douche nozzle having an opening and perforated to permit the passage of Y Water therethrough, and a closure member for closing the outer end of said container and also closing said nozzle opening both when the container is in position in the nozzle or has been removed therefrom.
4. A douche nozzle having an opening in a side thereof, a container for a medicinal compound removably projected through said opening into the nozzle passage-Way and perforated to permit the passage of Water therethrough; Va closure member for closing the nozzle opening and holding the container in position therein and having a part for projecting into an end of the container to confine the medicinal compound substantially Within the cross-sectional area of the nozzle passage-Way.- Y A In testimony Vwhereof I have hereunto signed my name to this specification.
