T 0 all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ABBOT AUGUSTUS Low, a citizen of the United States, residing at Horseshoe, St. Lawrence county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Desk Furniture, of which the following is a specification.

My improvements relate to the class of devices for holding and presenting in position for convenient use desk implements, supplies, &c., set forth in Letters Patent No. 774,259 issued to me November 4th, 1904, the present invention consisting of a movable and removable attachment for such devices constructed and arranged as herein after described and claimed specifically, the object being to afford a suspended tray for ink receptacles &c., which while readily accessible, is out of the way of papers and other articles upon the surface of the desk below.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l, is a front elevation of the right hand extremity of a holder of the kind designated, provided with my attachment; Fig. 2, is a vertical section upon plane of line 22 Fig. 1, Fig. 3, a front view of my improved ink well; Fig. 4:, a side elevation thereof, and Fig. 5, a section upon plane of line 5-5 Fig. 3.

P, represents one of the end posts of a holder for desk implements of the class designated. This post is formed with a central vertical socket p, for the reception of the return bend and end .5, of the suspender S, upon which is supported the tray T formed with a plurality of pockets 2?, 25, for the reception of ink wells to, w, a sponge, a, or any other similar device adapted to or required for desk use.

The ink wells to, w, are of peculiar construction in that their tops are inclined downward and forward from rear to front as will be seen by reference, more particularly to Figs. 2 and 5; and the recess 10, for the ink is in each case inclined downward and backward from front to rear as shown in Fig. 5. This construction renders the ink more readily accessible, even when low; and visible at all times,the inclination of the ink recess being that at which Specification of Letters Patent.

It will be seen that the tray T is elevated well above the surface of the desk D, or table or other support to which the holder is applied. The space beneath the tray is thus left unencumbered and free for use, as for papers &c. Although if desired the tray T with its suspender may be lifted from the post P, and used upon the desk or elsewhere as may be found most expedient; or, the tray may be turned to the side or rear of the post if not desired for use.

The tray T and suspender S, being readily removable, the ink wells may be conveniently carried to a suitable place for cleaning and refilling thereby obviating the danger of soiling or contaminating the desk or articles thereon.

The tray T may be made adjustable upon the suspender S, so that its height with relation to the desk D, may be varied to suit the convenience of the user. Obviously various mechanical expedients may be employed for this purpose. In'the drawings the suspender S, is shown as formed at its outer end with a female screw thread 8, for the reception of the threaded stud t, on the tray, so that by removing the suspender from the socket p, and turning it either to the right or left on the stud t, the length of the means of suspension may be increased or diminished as desired.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,

The combination with a holder for desk i implement-s such as described, of an end post of said holder formed with a vertical socket in its upper end, a return band suspender one member of which fits in the socket in the end post, and the other member of which is formed with a female screw thread, a threaded stud engaging with said female screw thread and a tray rigidly attached to said threaded stud, for the purpose and substantially in the manner described.
