Be it known that I, Jaiunstltt. Dono, a citizen of the United States. residing at Delaware, in thecounty of Delaware andtittate of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Hats or Capsr` of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in hats or caps, especiallyv of the kind which are adjustable and may therefore be adapted t the size of the head of the wearei;`the atlinstability being rendered )ossible by'overv lappingof parts, so that a ter the\parts are i overlapped they still appear attractive and stillfpreservc the proper form.

AA second form ofl adjusting device, which may be utilized either with the hat or cap' is shown in Fig. 4f, comprising the rows of holes 16, 17 and 17, on opposite sides of slit 8, and aV lace passed through the holes on opposite sides alternately, is usual in the employment of a lace to draw twoportionsot a body or two bodies together; this lace may be inserted at the topof the crown as shown at 19, and passed through the holes 16 and 17a and 17 and may then be tied 0r secured at its ends as. shown at-QO. The vizor 21 may be secured to the cap in the well known manner.

What I claim is:

1. A hat or cap having a` crown formed of a side member and a top cover member, said l l top cover member and side member being slit along a radial line from a point in sai top cover member to its edge and doiwii through said side member, and means for engaging the contiguous edgesjof said members to draw the same together adjustably.

2. A hat formed of a brim member, extensions formed thereon, a crown member secured to said extensions comprising a side member and a cover member7 said members beiiigfdivided along a radial line from the center 'of said cover member, and adjustable y means for engaging the edges of said di- ,-vidcd portions and contracting or releasing the same as desired.

3. A hat comprising a divided brim meniber, integral extensions thereon, a crown t member secured to said extensions formed of aside member-and a cover member. divided along a radial line from the center of said cover member, said division lines in said brim and crown being adapted to form a continuous slit, and means :tor adj ustably se- ,f

curing said divided portions together as desired.
