R. M. VICE. PARTITIQN HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED MAR. s, 1909.
Patented Dec. 2l, 1909.

PARTITION-HOLDER.
Specification Aof Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 2l, 1909.
Application iled March 8, 1909, Serial No. 482,158.
1' o all 'whom 'it may concern:
Be it lrnown -that I, ROLLO M. Vieri, a citizen ,of the United States, residing at Alliance, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in PartitionHolders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 isa perspective view showing a proper relative position with reference to a drawer or receptacle. Fig. 2 is a detached perspective viewV of a holder, showing the rear side of the holder. Fig. 3 is a top view of the holder showing the different positions of the holder and illustrating a partition in dotted lines. e
The present invention has relation to partition holders, especially designed for holding the partitions or division members of drawers or receptacles designed for filing papers and also for arranging the partitions so as to produce a number of receptacles.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the lfigures of the drawing.
In -the accompanying drawing, 1 represents a drawer, which may be of the form shown, or it may be of any other desired form as I do not desire to confine the present invention to drawers as it will be understood that the partition holding plate hereinafter more specifically described lcan be applied without any speciic reference tol the construction of the drawer or receptacle or without any reference to speciic use. -The partition holding plate 2 is. formed of spring material. The center portion of the plate 2 is provided with the integral flanges 3, which anges are connected by the integral portion t, said last mentioned parts being stamped or bent to vproduce a groove or recess adapted to receive the end of a partition 5. It being understood that a partition holding plate such as 2 is to be located at each end of the partition 5.
From the flanges 3 extend the spring blades or wings 6, which wings or blades normally stand at an angle to a right angle, transverse with the partition holding grooves. The blades or wings 6 are provided with a series of short tangs 7 adapted I to be seated in the' sides or ends of the receptacle l or upon the sides of the partitions 5 as the case may be.-V
It will be understood that by locating the wings or blades 6 at an angle other than a right angle the outer vertical edges of said wings will come in contact with the surface, against which they are located, thereby permitting a yielding movement as illustrated in dotted lines Fig. 3, which yielding movenient provides means for properly holding the partitions and also' allows for slight ad.
justment by means of which the ends of the partition are held in vthe grooves by reason of the spring action of the wings or blades 6. It will alsobe understood that when a partition is removed the plates 2 can be easily detached and adjusted to any desired place, thereby, providing means for quickly and easily changing the size of the receptacles or for varying the number of receptacles contained in any particular drawer oi large receptacle to which the partitions are attached and in which said partitions are located. i
For the purpose of adding elasticity to the wings or blades 4(i they are slightly curved or in other words convexo-concave; the concaved surfaces lying toward the surface of the wall of the receptacle to which the plates are to be attached as illustrated in Fig. 3. The normal conditions of the wings or blades of the holding plates proper are as above described conveXo-conave and the partitions 5 should be. formed of such a llength'or the adjustment be such that when the partitions are placed` in the position to be held the wings or blades will assume practically straight positions as illustrated in dotted lines Fig. 3.
Having fully described my invent-ion vwhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-v l. As an improved article of manufacture, a partition holding plate formed of spring material, said plate provided with a partition holding recess and wings or blades eX- tcnded at an angle other than a right angle from the partition holding recess, substantially as and for the purpose speciiied.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a partition holding plate formed of spring material, said plate provided with a partition holding recess and wings or blades eX- ioo tended at an anule other than a right angle from the partitlon holding recess, and the wings or blades provided with piercing tangs, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
3., As an improved article of manufacture, a partition holding plate provided With a Ycentrallyy located recess, integraln convexoconcave Wings or blades located upon opplo-l 10 site sides of the recess, said wings or bla es provided with piercingpoints, substantially as and for the purpose specified. i
In testimony that I claim the above, I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two Witnesses.
