To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, FINE H. TIOSAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gallatin, in the county of Sumner and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Braces for Dashboards, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to braces for dash boards, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a brace of simple construction which can be secured to the body of the vehicle for holding a dash board in vertical position after it has been sprung in use.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide a brace which will fit the opposite edges of the dash board and which may be adjustably secured to the body of the vehicle.
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,-
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of a dash board and showing one of my braces in position for supporting the side of the dash board. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the braces detached. Fig. 3 is an edge view of the same. Fig. 4; is a horizontal section on the line 44: of Fig. 8.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the front portion of the body of a vehicle, and 2 is the dash board shown partially broken away.
My improved brace 3 is provided with a longitudinal groove 4: which fits the edge of the dash board, and at the upper end a curved portion or hook 5 is provided which extends partially around the bead at the edge of the dash board. The upper end of the base is curved, as at 6, while the lower end is oppositely curved, as at 7, and a leg 8 is formed upon the terminal lower end of the brace. Extending through the leg 8 is a rectangular slot 9 to accommodate the bolt 10 for securing the brace in position for supporting the dash board and to provide adjustment for said brace.
From the foregoing it will be understood that my braces are made in pairs, a right and a left brace to be secured at opposite sides of the dash board for holding the same firmly in position either after the dash board has been sprung in use or for new dash boards.
My invention is of simple construction, can be manufactured at slight cost, can be readily applied and adjusted for use and will hold the dash board firmly in place.
I claim A brace for dash boards comprising a body portion having a longitudinal groove in one side to fit the bead at the side of the dash board, an outwardly curved upper end provided with a hook to inclose said bead. and an inwardly extending lug formed at the lower end of the brace provided with a slot to admit a bolt for adjustably securing the brace to the body of the Vehicle.
