. BAG-HOLDING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 30, 1909.
Application filed September 15, 1909. Serial No. 517,944.
To all whom t may concern:
Be itknown that I, HENRY IHME, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leonard, in the county of Cass and State of North Dakota, have invented certain vnew and useful Improvements in Bag-Holding Devices; and I do hereby declare the follow ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for holding bags and comprises a simple and efhcient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which:-
Figure l is a perspective view showing the application of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.
. Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A and B designate two bars pivoted together at C, the `corresponding ends of said rods being bent to form spurs D adapted to engage a fixed ob- The long arms of the bars A and B have spurs N at their ends which are bent outwardly and are designed to engage and hold a bag O in the manner shown in the drawing.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of a bag holding device as shown and described, a simple and ellicient means is aorded whereby the device may be attached to any convenient object and made to hold the bag open for the reception of any commodity which it may be desired to place therein. By detaching the ends of the bars from the object upon which they are supported, the long arms may be caused to move toward each other to allow the bag to be readily removed from its attachments. By the provision of the spring, the spurred ends of the bars will be held by friction against the object upon which the device is supported.
What I claim to be new is A bag holding device comprising bars which are pivoted together and provided with spurred ends adapted to engage an objectv to support said bars, the arms of said bars having spurs at their ends outwardly turned to engage over the edge of a bag and hold it open, a spring connecting said bars and adapted to hold the spurred ends of the bars frictionally against the object upon which it is supported.
In testimony whereof I hereunto ailiX my ject E upon opposite edges thereof, as shown 1 signature in the presence of two witnesses.
in Fig. l of the drawings. A spring F is fastened at its ends in apertures in said bars and adapted to normally hold the same at their farthest limits toward each other.
