To all wlzom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH E. BALPH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have .invented certain new and useful Improvements in Card Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full; clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it -apper-' tains to make and use the same.

This invention relatesto' attachments for cards and similar articles, and has for an object to provide a device especially and peculiarly adapted for use in conjunction with the card index system forming the subject-matter of a pending application, Serial Number 299,051, filed Feb. l, 1906, and allowed Nov. 28,1906, although the device herein shown may be employed for other A further object of the invention is to provide a card having an edge formed for engagement with bearing or supporting members 'removably and a'djustably attached thereto for supporting the card from the under side or suspending it from the upper side.

/ The invention forming the subject-matter of this application comprises. in various embodiments a bearing member adapted to be secured at various points along the side of a card'and to support the card at any,-of

such points from the under side or to sus-- pend the card from the upper side.

To conform to the embodiment of the bearing member shown at Figs. 1, 2 and 3 the card is also provided along the edge with notches or scallops22 each of said notches'or scallopsv being in aline'ment .with and correspondin 'to one of the openings 21.

The embodiment of the bearing member shown at Figs; 1, 2-and 3 comprises a plate 23 slitted as at 24 from one side s'to form three tongues, the outer two shown at 25 and a central one shownat 26. The outer tongues 25 are bent as at 27 to forin an angularly disposed shoulder 28, the reversely inclined sides \of which are adapted to engage the reversely inclined sides of the notches or scallops 22. By the'formation of the shoulder 28 the tongues 25 are consequently spaced from the tongue 26 which said tongue 26 is provided with a roll or 100 29 at its extremity proportioned and positioned to enga re within one of the openings 21 of the card andretain the bearing member in position upon the card. It will readily be seen that by forming the bearing member of resilient material the tongue 26 may be flexed and the curl 29 removed from the opening 22 to permit theremoval of the bearing member from the card and its emplacement within another'of the scallops and openings and its consequent adj ustment' upon the card.
