This' invention relates to pipe cleaners, and has for its object to rovide a cleaner .whichwill at all times be in operative posi tion to performits cleaning function.
It is a'well known fact that with most devices of. this kind now in use the cleaner is inserted in the stem and moves longitudinally to effect the cleaning of the latter; the chief disadvantage of this construction is that the depyosit removed from the walls' of the stem is y the cleanergenerall deposited in the bottom of the bowl and t ere isno provision made to clean the latter. The
resent' invention aims to remedy this defect y providing a construction which will simultaneously remove the deposit4 both-from the stem and bowl.
With these and other objects in View, as will morev fully hereinafter appear, the present invention consists in cert-ain novel details of construction, and' arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described and illustrated in the accom anyingvdrawings, and particularly pointe out in the appended claim. It being understood that various changes in. the form, roportion, size and minor details of the evioe may be made without departing from or s acmcing any of the advantages of the invention. a
In the accom anying .drawings :-Figure 1 issa longitu inal sectional view taken thrpugh a pipe showing the cleaner in place. Fig. 2 isa vertical section taken through the bowl on the line 2-2 of Fi 1. Fig. 3
Fig. 4 `is a. sectional View through-a curved stem pipe. Fig. 5 shows the device applied to a corn cob pipe.:

with a central` bore Abit 5 having a central bore 6 is coupled to the stem 3 by a ferrule 7, as illustrated in Fig. 1. The bowl l'isat a point a' A proximately diametrically `opposite to e ore et provided with the opening alin' 'i with the bore 4, and the function of Whic willrpresently appear. A cleanerin-thef present instance is shown as constructedbf a single piece lof wire or other suitable ma'- terial having convolutions 8, the diameter of sadconvoluted to slidinglyf fit wit stem 3. A plug l9, preferabl metal or othersuitable materia isy designed to snugly t within the opening formed in the bowl 1, and opposite to thatv of the bore y frusto-conical in sha e, -Y
4, and is preferab lportion being suilicient in" the. bore. 4 of thev Y formed of its inner end forming a continuation 'of t e wall of the bore 2 and its outer end pro-v ]ecting slightly in advance ofthe outer face of the bowl 1. The plug' 9 is provided with an opening for the reception of one end ofthe cleaner 8, which 1s suitably secured therein.
From the foregoing it is obvious thata pipe, such as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and .3, and( provided with the o enin as heretofore'described, may be reailily c eaned by turning. the plug 9, which will result tion of the cleaner 8.
In the construction' illustrated in Fig. 5, the device is shown applied to what is known as a corn cob pipe, 1n which the stem 3 is in the extracf adjacent its inner or vbowl engaging end .pipe .fitted with mydnproved cleaners may e readily and effectively cleaned and kept What I claim is The combination with a ipe having.an opening invthe bowl thereof` alining vwith the bore of the stem, of a cleaner vfor aid 'taot`-with and 't roughout the bore of the In testimony w'hereof I` affix my signa- `5'p1ug ttng Within said opening in the bowl pipe conqri'sngA a spiral Wire having its and constituting-the manipulatingmemberl convolutons ada ted vto lie in intimate contherefor. l0
