SHOE-SUPP ORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 28, race.
Application filed August 24, 1906, Serial No. 331,848. Renewed February 23, 1909. Serial No. 479,539.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARION H. CAZTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Chicago, in the count I of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Shoe-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to devices which are used for making orderly disposition of articles of apparel, by which they may be kept in good condition and shapely form. It provides means by which foot wear, boots, shoes, etc., may be hung free from the floor in easy reach and'convenient position.
Shoe bags and boxes collect dust and dirt, becoming very unsanitary, the selection of articles therefrom is inconvenient, and where so stored and piled on each other they become soiled and defaced.
The object of my invention is to furnish a device by which such articles may be stored for ready access and selection and which is simple, cheap, sanitary and convenient.
A practical embodiment of my device is illustrated in the drawings, in which it is shown to consist of a single piece or bar of metal having the face or projecting portion A, the attaching portion B, and the off-set or connecting portion C. The member A has notches D in the upper edge of the bar, which are formed by the separating lugs E. Vithin the said notches and upwardly facing are projecting teeth F, adapted to engage a shoe heel as hereafter set out.
The offset portions are preferably formed with key hole slots. Screws or headed pins G being placed in the object to which the device is to be attached, at proper distance apart and slightly projecting, the enlarged portions H of the slots are passed over the screw heads. IVhen the rail is passed clownward until the screws engage the slotted portion, the device will be securely fastened in place, but readily removable if desired. lVhen so secured to the wall, door, or other convenient portion of a room or closet the use of my device will be almost self evident. A shoe being placed in the position with reference thereto shown in the drawings, the teeth engage the front of the heel, while the spacing lugs separate the individual shoes from each other.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent the following:
1. A shoe support comprising a metal bar, off-set supporting members therefor, notches in the upper edge of the bar, and heel engaging means within said notches.
In a shoe support, a metal bar, off-set brackets therefor, notches in the upper edge of the bar, having the bottom portions thereof centrally elevated, and means therein for engaging a shoe heel.
A shoe support consisting of a metallic strip, supporting members formed integrally therewith, notches in the upper edge of the strip, having their bottom port-ions arched toward their top, and heel engaging points at the apex of the arch.
4. A shoe support comprising a metal bar, teeth in one edge thereof, and spacing lugs arranged at intervals between said teeth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, this 22nd day of August A. D. 1906, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
