Letters Patent No. 93,465, dated August 10, 1869.
IMPROVED LEATHER-ROLLING- MACHINE. I
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of'the same.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, C. NV. Monson, of' Upton, in the county of Van Buren, and State of Iowa, have invented anew and improved Leather-Rolling Machine; and I do hereby declare that Jthe following is a,
full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will `enable. others skilled inthe art to make and use the 'of' smooth metallic rollers in a frame, so that one may be caused to press against the` other, or the leather between them, hy the action of a foot treadle, while the other is turned by a hand-crank, all as hereinafter more fully specified.
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of my improved machine.
Figure 2 represents a sectional'elevation ofthe same, taken on the' line z-x, iig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding Darts. v
The roller A is journalled in the fixed housings B, and is provided with a hand-crank, C.
The roller D is journalled in the housings E, which are capable of' a rising and falling motion, and are connected at F with a toot-treadle, G, hinged to the floor.
The journals of the roller D are elongated, and pass through slots H in the housings B of the roller A.
The leather4 to be rolled is placed between the rollers, and. pressure applied by the foot-treadle, while motion is imparted to them by the hand-crank. The leather may thus be rolled hack and forth until properly condensed.
Having thus described my invention,
WhatI claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Thev combination of the rollers A D, fixed housings B, movable housings E, and ibot-tleadle, when all arranged'as specified.
. e C. W. MONSON.
