CHARLES F. BOOTH, OF CANANDAIGUA, NEW YORK.
ADJUSTABLE SUPPORT FOR ASEPTIC TRAYS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 23, 1908.
Patented Aug. 17, 1909.
Serial No. 412,342.
' inafter described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a top plan view of a table top having this invention applied thereto, and showing in dotted lines the position of a tray thereon; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a table top supplied with this invention and having a tray thereon; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one corner of a table top supplied with a support embodying this invention; and Fig. e is an enlarged cross-section on the line 1- 1 of Fig. 1.
The example of this invention herein shown and described is an aseptic tray for dentists use.
In the drawings, 1 is the top of a stand which may be supported in any suitable way, as upon the top of a cabinet. At suitable points, as, for instance, at the corners of the top 1, are attached a suiiicient number of supporting devices, which are, respectively, adjustable both toward and from the center of the table top and also around an axis, upon which supporting devices a tray having means therefor is carried. In the pres ent instance, the bearing means is clownwardly-open grooved portions 3, Fig. 4, in the bottom of the tray 2 at the points where the supports are to engage it, and which, in the form shown, is produced by a hollow downwardly-turned rim at around the edge of the tray. The supporting device has a slotted portion through which a screw 5, or other like suitable fastening, may pass into the table top 1 and thereby the support may move with reference to the screw, by sliding it along the same'within the limits of the slot, and at the same time the support may rotate around the screw as a pivot. The
said support has two upturned ends 6, separated by a suitable distance, which ends may be protected by padding 7.
The precise form of the support shown in the drawings is of wire, which is bent at its middle 8 into two parallel arms, between which is the slot 9, through which the screw 5 passes; then the ends of the wire diverge and are curved to fit over the rim 10 of the table top 1, if such rim exists, and finally turned upwardly in the parallel upright ends 6 above mentioned. are placed in the bearing groove 3 in the bottom of the tray 2, preferably at short distances from the corners of such tray, if the tray is rectangular; and it will be noted that the tray is thus firmly held in place. A washer 11 is conveniently used underneath the head of the screw 5. It will be noted that these supports may befastened to the table top in any desired position, and are capable of adjustment to fit a bearing portion of any suitable form in the bottom of the tray 2, and that trays of uniform size may be fastened to table tops of different sizes, or vice versa, by means of this invention.
What I claim is 1. The combination of a tray having hearing means in its under side; a series of separate supports each having upturned means for engaging said bearing means and each having a slot in a horizontal portion thereof and means passing through said slot and adapted to secure the support adjust-ably to a table top.
2. The combination of a tray having bearing portions in its bottom; a series of separate supports each formed of wire bent at its middle and having parallel portions and then diverging portions with upturned ends adapted to engage the bearing portion of said tray; and a fastener in the slot formed by said parallel portions and adapted to secure the support adj ustably to a table top.
