citizen of. the United States, residing at Fitchburg, in the county of Worcester Vand Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have inventedV a new and useful Improvement -in vRevolving Firearms, of which the following is a'specification, accompanied by drawings forminga part of the same, in whichh Figure l represents a side view of a revolving fire arm embodying my invention, the side plate Vhavingbeen/removed to dis- Yclose the lock mechanism. the engagement of the spring actuateddog 16 with: the upper surface of 'the Vcylinder latch, will cause the latch V to be depressed until the hook shaped end 13'is withdrawn` into the mortise 15, thereby releasing the cylinder as shown in Fig. 2. The continued rocking movement of the trigger 5 in the dif rection of the arrow 19 will draw the dog'v 16 back until its tip passes through the mortise 17, allowing the elasticity of the cylin- .der latch 8 to again carry its hooked end 13 through `the mortise 15 of theframe, as shown in Fig. 3, and Yinto the position to again engage one of the notches 4 of the cylinder, and allow the cylinder latch to again hold the cylinder from rotating, 'at thetime when the trigger has reached its rearward position to release the hammer in the act of firing. The hooked end of the cylinder latch therefore engages the cylinder when the lock -inechanism is in its nor' mal position or before the trigger is drawn back, as represented in Fig. 1, and it again engages the cylinder when the trigger has reached its rearward position or at the period of firing, releasingy the cylinder during the intermediate movement of the trigger to allow the cylinder to be rotated in the usual manner in arms of this class by means of the actuating cylinder pawls 20. When the trigger is released its rocking motion is reversed bythe action of the trigger spring 6 restoring the trigger to the position shown 1n Fig. 1. During the forwardv movement of the trigger the rounded surface 16t of the spring actuated dog is carried against the under side of the cylinder latch 8 attlie forward end ofthe inortise 17,- and-the pressure of the rounded surface lffagainst the cylinder latch will cause the dog 16 to be forced into` the trigger against the tension of the spiral sprlngn 1Q", thereby allowing the tip of the dog to pass through the niortise 17'wl1en the Spring 16 will force the.idom.f0r.ward.Tandil cause its tip to overlap the upper surface of thqcylinder latchrin the.posit ion Ashown in Fig. l.
