CORA B. LOVETT, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
SHAMPOO-TRAY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 21, 1908.
Patented July 20, 1909.
Serial No. 458,864.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CoRA B. LovETT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shampoo-Trays, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a shampoo tray" and a support therefor, and has for its object the provision of means for facilitating the clamping and supporting of a tray upon a support.
Another object of this invention is the neck of the person being shampooed to extend into the tray.
Still another object of this invention is the production of means for facilitating the discharging of liquid from a tray.
With these and other objects in View, this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings: Fi ure 1 is a rear view of the tray-support wit the tray in section. Fig. 2 is a side view of the tray-support, with the tray in section. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the tray. Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on line 44, Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a section taken on line 55, Fig. 3.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates a clamp, which constitutes a substantially inverted U-shaped portion 2. Between the sides of the U-shaped portion 2 is positioned an adjustable plate 3. Said plate 3 is adjusted by means of thumbscrews 4 working in screw-threaded apertures 5 in the rear side of the inverted U- shaped portion 2 of the clamp. The body portion 2 of the clamp is lined with a strip of felt 6, and the plate 3 is also lined with a strip of felt 6 to prevent the marring of furniture to which the clamp is attached. The body portion 2 is provided with an integral extension 7 upon its rear face, and between the thumb-screws 4. The integral extension 7 is provided with an aperture 8,
into which is positioned a post 9, which is provided, at its upper end, with an angleportion 9 The 0st 9 is held in the a erture 8 b means ofa thumb-screw 10, w ich passes t rough an aperture 10 and engages the post 9.
Upon the post 9 is supported a tray 11, which tray is reinforced u on its under-surface by means of a Y-s a ed reinforcing member 12, which is secure to the bottom of the tray by any suitable fastening means, as for instance, rivets 12. The reinforcing member consists of outwardly-extending fingers 13, 14 and 15. At the junction of the three fingers 13, 14 and 15 is an integral extension 16, which integral extension is provided with an aperture 17, into which is p0- sitioned the upper angle-portion 9 of the post 9. The angle-portion 9 of the post 9 is securely held in said aperture 17 by means of a thumb-screw 18.
The tray 11 is provided with an 0 on or unobstructed end 19, which is curved s ightly downward, as at 19, Fig. 4. The sides and one end of the tray are provided with flanges 20 and 21, which extend the entire length of the sides and around one end of the tray; the flanges being abruptly turned inwardly near the open end of the tray so as to discharge the liquid contained in the tray into a much smaller receptacle than the tray. The closed end of the tray is provided with an in wardly-bowed portion or neck-receiving socket 23, which is formed intermediate of the sides of the tray. Upon each side of the neck-receiving socket are straight portions 24. The flanges at the side of the tray are reinforced by means of a wire or rod 25 passing around the upper edge of said flanges and around the sides and one end of the tray, and the upper end 26 of said flange being bent around said wire or rod. The flange ta )ers slightly, as at 27, at the discharging en s of the tray.
What I claim is:
1. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with a tray, of a Y-shaped reinforcing member secured to said tray, an inte ral extension positioned at the junction of t e fingers of said Y-shaped reinforcing member, said extension provided with a a socket formed therein and means posi- 1c socket, a post positioned in said socket, and means for clampin said post in said socket. 2. As a new artic e of manufacture, a tray,
5 a reinforcing member comprising a forwardly-extending finger and a plurality of rearwardly-eXtending fingers secured to the bottom of said tray, a projection formed at the junction of said fingers and provided with tioned in said socket for securing said tray to a support.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
