Be it known that I, MILLARD F. S'rown, a citizen of the United States, residing at Coldwater, county of Branch, and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shingle Carriers and Supports, of Which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in shingle carriers and supports.

The main object of this invention is to provide an improved shingle carrier which is adapted to be used to carry shingles and also to hold or retain them en a roof.

Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.

A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which,

Fig. 5 is a perspective of my improved shingle carrier or sling -filled with shingles.

In the drawing, similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

Referring to the drawing, l represents the body or band portion of my improved shingle carrier or sling preferably formed oll canvas. At each end of the band are handles 2 which are adapted to be brought together, as is illustrated in Fig. 5, for carrying shingles. At one end of the band, the lower end when the sling is in position to serve as a holder on a roof, are longitudinally arranged upwardly curved bars 3. These bars prevent the slipping of the shingles from the band, when the same is laid out upon the roof in use. On the under side of the band and preferably adjacent to these bars 3 are brad plates 4 having brads 5 and 6 punched up thereon. The brads 6 are arranged through the band and are clenched down to retain the plates. They are preferably also further secured by suitable rivets arranged through a central Specification of Letters Patent.

This forms a very light and at the saine time strong sling or carrier, and one which effectively supports the shingles on the roof, and at the same time can be readily moved about on the roof or carried Vfrom place to place as may be dcsired. Another advantage is that it can be folded very compactly for storage or transportation.

I have illustrated and described my improved sling in detail in the form preferred by me on account of its structural simplicity and economy and convenience in use. I am, however, aware that it is capable of considerable variation in structural detail without departing from my claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as ne and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. The combination of a flexible band having handles at each end thereof; a pair of curved bars secured at one end of said band, said bars being arranged longitudinally with their outer ends projecting upward; and a plurality of plates having brads punched up on both sides thereof secured to the under side of said band adjacent to said bars by rivets arranged centrally therethrough and by inserting the brads on their inner sides through the band and clenehing the same thereon, as specilied.

2. The combination of a flexible band having handles at each end thereof; a pair of curved bars secured at one end of said band, said bars being arranged longitudinally with their outer ends projecting upward; and a plurality of plates having brads punched up on both sides thereof secured to the under side of said band adjacent to said bars by inserting the brads on their inner sides through the band and clenching the same thereon, as specied.

3. The combination of a flexible band having handles at cach end thereof; a pair of curved bars secured at one end of said band, said bars being arranged longitudinally with their outer ends projecting upward; aud a plurality of plates having brads punched up on both sides thereof secured to the under side of said band adjacent to said bars, as specified.

4. 8. The combination of a flexible band having handles at each end thereof; means for holding one end of said band in an elevated position When it is extended; a plurality of brads secured to the under side of said band.
