Be it known that I, BENJAMIN NOTT, of the city and county of Albany, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Construction of Illuminators or Transparents or Translucents, as Applied to Stoves, Furnaces, and Ranges; and I declare the following specification, with the drawin gs accompanying the same and forming part thereof, to be 'a full and complete description of my invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of. my invention.

Figure 2 is a horizontal section of the same.

Figurefi is a perspective view of my, invention, as applied to a stove.

A designates the solid cylinders or prisms.

B designates the frame holding the said'solid cylinders orprisms.

O designates the stove, to which the illnminator may be attached.

1) designates the flange 'on the frame of the illuminator, by which it may be attached to the stove.

E designates an exit of stove G.

1" F designate the band on the fastenings'ou the top and bottom front of illnminator, for the purpose of supporting and retaining in place said cylinders or prisms.

The object of my invention is to produce an illu minat-or, or transparent, or translucent, to be attached to a stove or heater, for the purpose of diffusing the light of the fire through the room, and which shall be so arranged as to obviate the risk of having the glass broken, and also of having the air of the room pass through the illuminator, or between it and the stove into the fire. To which ends,

My improvements consist in placing and fastening the solid glass cylinders or prisms, or other pieces of solid glass, and holding them in contact with each other in a tiame suitable therefor, and which frame is or can be fastened to the stove or heater; The glass in'this frame serves to reflect or transmit the light from the fire into the room, and being in contact in the frame,

and the frame attached to the stove or heater,-prevents the air of the room passing through or between the illuminator and the stove into the fire.

My invention is applicable to any form of stove or heater, and can be attached either to the door of the stove or heater, or the stove itself. Colored glass prisms can be used if desired.

Having thus fairly described my invention,

What I claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The solid glass cylinders, prisms, or pieces of glass, substantially as set forth.

2. The solid glass cylinders, prisms, or pieces of glass, in combination with the frame, substantially as and for the purposes as set forth.
