ANTON WEIZENBAOK, OF GLEHN, NEAR NEUSS, GERMANY.
REGISTER FOR FILING DOCUMENTS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 18, 1909.
Application filed October 13, 1908. Serial No. 457,478.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, An'ron \Vmznnnlion, manager, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Glehn, nez r l euss, in the Province of Rhineland and State of Prussia, Germany. have invented new and useful Improvements in Registers for Filing Docui'nents, of which the following is a specificatlon.
Lie present invention relates to a register for filing documents of every class, the essential feature being that usually itis kept closed by means of a lever, acted upon by a spring and having one end projecting through the back-part of the filing-register, and that it can be opened by moving the lever from. the outside, by which means the closing arrangement is disengaged and the parts of the register are released.
The accompanying drawing, in which similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, shows the invention in 4, views. 1 to 4.
Figure l shows the filing-register opened in plan-view with locking contrivance. Fig. '3 is a sectional view of it. Fig. 3 shows a part of a plan-view of the filing register, in which some members occupy a different position, whereas Fig. ishows the register in sectional view, closed and bolted up.
The part a of the file cover has attached to it a how-shaped hoop or locking member 0, provided with a recess (7. The part i) of the cover has fixed to it an arm f bearing a lever 5 free to turn, the arm g of which passes outwardly through the hack-piece h of the reg ster and can be seized from the exterior, whereas thespring 2' bears against the part o tending beyond the fulcrum. hen the tiling 'ter is closed, the lever 9 slides with itsv toothed, or hook-shaped or bent down end Z: on the hoop-men'iher c, and the lever is somewhat pushed back by means of this. contrary to the action of the spring, until at last. the hook latches into the opening (1 with the eit'ect of bolting up the filing reg ster, as shown in Fig. 4.
W hen it is required to open the filing register a pressure is exercised on the lever g", the hook it passes out of the opening d, and accordingly the register can be opened. The documents themselves are moved over the filing pins Z secured to cover-section a, and over which fits a locking-hoop or bail on. The angular locking-hoop, free to turn at n, is acted upon by a plate-spring 0 at its downwardly directed arm m and this spring tends to turn it in such a sense, that with its upper end it is moved away from the filing pins Z. At the cover of the register or at a rail, fastened to it respectively, a slide 72 hearing a pin 9 is arranged so that it can be shifted. This may be free to turn or it may be provided, as shown, with a sleeve or roller 1 adapted to rotate on it. When the slide occupies the position shown in Figs. 3 and 4, it acts with the pin g in 1011 a manner against the arm m of the locking hoop, that, contrary to the action of the spring 0, this is turned so as to get lodged with its end in, on the filingpins 1. When the slide is moved in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, it slips off from the arm m of the locking hoop m with its pin q or roller 1*, owing to this, such hoop is turned by the spring 0, and it is moved away from the filing-pins Z with the ends m so as to allow the documents to be taken out.
I claim v 1. A device of the character described, comprising acover, a locking member on the inner side of one section thereof, an arm on the inner side of the other section, and a spring-influenced hook pivoted to said arm and having a handle that projects through the cover.
2. A device of the character described, comprising a cover, a perforated bow and tiling pins secured to the inner side of one section thereof, and a spring-influenced hook carried by the other section and adapted to engage the perforated bow.
Signed by me at Cologne, Germany, this 30th day of September 1908.
ANTON VVEIZEN BACK.
\Vitnesses LOUIS VANDORN, BESSIE F. DUNLAP.
