Be it known that I, JOHN M. GAMBLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Des Moines and State of Iowa, have invented certain new ally against the action of its retractile `spring.` A spring is provided for normally holding said catch in engagement with the gate for maintaining the gate in a depressed position. When it is desired to open the gate all that is necessary is to press upon the upper end of the catch which will cause t e lower end thereof to move from above the gate. This will permit the retractile spring to immediately elevate the gate, and thus present an opening through which articles may be passed.
In order that the invention may be more clearly `understood an embodiment of the same is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which 1 indicates a ticket window having the usual openin formed therein. Gate 9 is formed with a main body portion 10 designed to close the opening formed by cut away portions 6-6, and a thumb member l1 which is designed to be pressed manually for lowering the gate. The upper end of the gate is formed with a turned over portion 12 which is engaged by a retractile spring 13. Retractile spring 13 is secured at 14 to plate 2 and is designed to be stretched when gate 9 is in its lowered position, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to move the gate upward yto the position shown in Fig. 1, and maintain the same in that position when the gate has been Ticket-Window Closures; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make and use the same.
