IMPROVED FOOT-COMFORTER.

The Schedule referred to :in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it, 'may concern.-

Be it known that l, GEORGE W. Ro'rHRooK, of Mifflin, in the county of J uniata, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improveu and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof', referencebeiug had to the accompanying drawing, making apart of this specification, in which- Figure 1` is a perspective View of my improved footcomforter; v

, Figure 3is a side' view of the same, when the opposite'fhalves are folded together for convenience in packing.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a double-folding shoe or foot-comforter, with insulators on the bottoms of the soles. ticularly, though not solely designed for the use ol travelle'rs iii'cars or other places where the heating is defective, during the cold seasons of the year. made, that while suiciently capacious to receive both of the feet of the traveller, when unfolded, it can, at the end of the journey, or while changing'cars, be folded together so as to be conveniently packed in a carpet-bag, or valise, or overooat-pocket.

-To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construeton and manner of use.

On the bottoms of the soles b Z/ are insulators, (l d', preferably of wood or other suitable material, such as may be a poor conductor of heat. These insulators are of such height that they will keep the soles b b a little above the door, and free from Contact with the moisture or dampuess of the car-floor.

As already stated, when not in use, the opposite V halves of the shoe are folded together, as in 6g.. 3, the crease or joint e in the sole permitting this, and then can be conveniently stowed away in a valise, carpetbag, or capacous pocket. The ,jointe may be made by creasing the leather of the sole, or by uniting the two halves, so as to give a folding joint.

What- I claimas my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A foot-'comforter or shoe, having folding soles b b', and insulators, d d', one or more on each half sole, substantially as and for the uses above yset forth.
