CREDIT-CABINET.
Application filed September 8, 1908.
To all whore it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDQLF J PETERSON, a'subject of the King of Sweden, residing at Alliance, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Credit-Registers and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description oi the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, in which*n Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing a portion of the cabinet frame, and portions of the credit slip holding leaves, some of said leaves being illustrated in elevation and others in lowered position. Fig. 2 is a spective view of a detached set of credit slip holding leaves showing one set of the parallel notched connecting bars detached. Fig. 3 is a vertical section, showing all of the credit slip holding leaves in elevated position and the cabinet closed. Fig. 4 is an enlarged view showing transverse sections ofA the credit slip holding leaves and the slip holding clips connected thereto, also illustrating the manner of connecting the notched sets of parallel bars to the supporting'bars. Fig. 5 is a view showing a portion of one of the credit slip holding leaves and the credit slip holding clips, said credit slip holding clips detached but their parts bent in osition to connect the same to the credit sip holding leaves. Fig. 6 is an enlarged view of one oi' the credit sli holding leaves showing two credit slip holding clips properly connected. Fig. 7 is a view, showing one of the credit slip supporting bars and one set of the parallel notched bars illustrating a portion of one of said bars broken away.
The present invention has relation to credit cabinets and it consists in the novel arrangementhereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the `ligures of the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, 1 represents the cabinet frame or casing which may be of the form shown and preferably is of the form shown so that the different arts can be connected and operated, 1out I o not desire to be confined to any specific formation of frame, except that it must be so formed that the parts hereinafter' described can be Specification of Letters Patent.

pro erly connected and operated'. lTo the des( or front 2 are attached the bottom or lower ends'of the credit slip supporting bars 3 their top or upper ends being attached to the inner back 4 as illustrated 1n Figs. 1 and 3. For the purpose hereinafter described,
the supporting bars 3 are provided with the angled tangs 5, which angled tangs are for the purpose hereinafterdescribed. A
For tie purpose of ivotallyconnecting a series of credit slip holding leaves 6 together I rovide two sets of spaced notched barsy 7, which bars are held in proper 'spacedy re lationshi with reference to each ,other by means ol' the rivets 8 or their equivalents, which rivets also serve the purpose of providing means for tem orarily connecting the notched bars 7 to the supporting bar 3 by means of the angled tangs 5, said notched bars being connected by locating the notched bars upon the su orting bars 3 and afterward moving sai ars downward and sliding said bars into the position to bring the rivets 8 under the horizontal portions of the angled tangs 5 as best illustrated in Fig. 1. It will be understood that an upwardand backward movement must be given to the bars 7 in order that they may be detached and removed from the cabinet frame proper, together with the credit slip holding leaves 6 and their clips which creditslip holdinor leaves are pivotally attached to the notche bars as hereinafter described. Each credit slip holding leaf 6 is provided with the short lgs 9l which are entered between the sets of parallel bars 7 through which bars and lugs the pins or rivets 10 pass, thereby iivotally attaching the credit slip holding leaves to the notched bars 7. The notched bars when placed in an inclined osition as illustrated in the drawings w'l support the credit slip holding leaves 6 in what might be termed stepped relationship with reference to each other as best illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3.
lt is well understood that in credit cabinets, it is desirable to temporarily attach credit slips to the credit slip holding leaves and in order to provide for this I provide a peculiarly constructed clip 11, which clip is .connected to the credit slip holding leaves as follows: The base of the clip 11 is bent substantially at right angles to the clip portion whereby the part 12 is produced,
from which part 'the integral tangs 13 and 14 are extended. The tangs 13 while in alinenient with the base 12, as illustrated in dotted lines in Fig. are -passed through the slots vformed in the leaves after which they are bent into the positions illustrated in full lines. The tangs 14 serving to brace the clipproper so that the full spring energy of the clips `is maintained or in other Words no pivota or substantially no pivotal action is permitted as between the veaves 6 and the clips 11 after they have been properly connected. It will Abe understood that the slots 15 should be formed of a suilicient width that the tangs 18 of two clips can be passed through said slots when in the position shown in dotted lines F ig. 5. When it is desired to place clips upon both sides of the credit slip holding. leaves and in exactly oppositel positions the tangs 13 of one clip are bent upward and the tangs 13 of the other clip bent down whereby the tangs are pro erly connected.
It will be un erstood that in credit cabinets it is desirable to close the credit cabinet from time to time and in order to provide for this the leXible curtain 16 is provided, to which curtain is attached at itsto and bot tom the chain 17, the links of w ich chain engage the sprocket wheel 18, which s rocket wheel is loosely mounted upon the ar 19, which bar isc'onnected to the side members of the cabinet frame or their equivalents. To the sprocket Wheel 18 is attached one "end of the springQO-'and the, opposite end of the spring is connected to the -bar ,19.v
It will be understood that by notching the sets of parallel bars 7 the lugs 9 can be formed rovided' somewhat shorter than they otherwise could,
thereby bringing the pivotal points of thecredit slip holding leaves near their bottoni or lower edges and at the same time preventing any binding of the credit slip holding leaves as between themselves. By providing the open notches or recesses in the sets of the )arallel bars 7 the hinged edges of the cre it slip holding leaves can be brought close to the bars and at the same time provide room for the extreme bottoms of the credit slip holding leaves when they-are brought into a horizontal position as illustrated in Fig. 2 and at the same time-pro viding means whereby the pivotal points of the credit slip holding leaves are in close proximity to the bottom or lower edges o'l' the credit slip holding leaves.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure b Letters Patent, is-'- 1'; In a credit4 cabinet of the class de-l scribed, a cabinet frame, a series of sli holding leaves provided with lugs,- fixe sup orting bars secured to the cabinet frame, sai angled tangs secured tovsaid bars, spaced ugs pivotally attached to said bars, and meansA bars inclined4 forward and downward,-
parallel bars provided with notches, the
of the credit slip holding leaves 'being y adapted to hold the parallel bars in engagement with the angled tangs, substantially as and for the urp'ose'speciiied.
2. In a cre it vcabinetof vtheclass de'-` scribed, a cabinet-frame, a series of credit slip holding. leaves', notched b ars, inclined.
supporting bars fixed to the cabinet-frame,
and means for temporarily connecting the notched bars tothe inclined supportingbars,
the credit slip holding leaves being pivoted to the notched bars, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
. In testimony that I claim the above, Iv
have hereunto subscribed. my name in the presence of two Witnesses.
